ESPN Cleveland does not expect free agent G Shawn Lauvao back with the Browns. Lauvao missed the start of last season due to an ankle injury. He was an every-down player from Week 5 on, but struggled badly as a run blocker and gave up 18 quarterback hurries along with four sacks. New offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan prefers smaller, more agile linemen to execute his zone-blocking scheme. Lauvao is our No. 10 free agent guard available.

Browns RG Shawn Lauvao (ankle) is hoping to make his season debut against the Bills Thursday. Lauvao sustained a true high ankle sprain roughly two months ago. He was able to split first-team reps with fill-in starter Oniel Cousins on Monday. Getting Cousins out of the lineup would be fantastic news for the entire Browns offense. He's graded out as PFF's No. 68 guard among 70 qualifiers through four weeks.

Browns RG Shawn Lauvao (ankle) is listed as doubtful for Week 3. Perhaps he'll return in Week 4. Lauvao was initially expected to play against the Vikings, but didn't make enough progress during the practice week. The Browns will continue to struggle up front with Oniel Cousins at right guard.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer expects RG Shawn Lauvao (ankle) to return in Week 3 against the Vikings. Lauvao has already been ruled out for Sunday's game, but is on track to return this month. The Browns will be forced to go with backup Oneil Cousins for at least another week. Lauvao will serve as a major upgrade in run-blocking when healthy.

Browns RG Shawn Lauvao (ankle) will not practice Wednesday. It doesn't look like Lauvao will be ready for Sunday's game against the Ravens and that is awful news for the Browns. Backup Oneil Cousins turned in an epically atrocious performance in Week 1, committing four penalties and serving as a turnstile in the run game.

Browns RG Shawn Lauvao (ankle) is "still on schedule," according to coach Rob Chudzinski. Lauvao was expected to miss 2-3 regular season games after undergoing a scope in early August. With Jason Pinkston (ankle) on short-term injured reserve, Oniel Cousins will start at right guard against the Dolphins Sunday.

Updating a previous item, Browns OG Shawn Lauvao is expected to miss six weeks after undergoing an ankle scope Friday. Lauvao will miss the rest of the preseason and possibly two or three regular season contests. Following the injury, he's no longer in the mix to start; Jason Pinkston will man right guard while John Greco anchors the left side. Seventh-rounder Garrett Gilkey will try to win the right to back them up early on.

Browns OG Shawn Lauvao is not expected to be ready for Week 1 after having his ankle scoped Friday. This ends Cleveland's guard competition; Jason Pinkston and John Greco will be the starters. Lauvao started all 16 games last season at right guard. His loss deals a depth blow, but Pinkston and Greco are solid first-teamers.
