At this point, Mathews (knee) is viewed as more of a question mark for Monday night's game against the Packers than fellow RB Darren Sproles (ribs), Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Per Philly.com, Mathews -- who won't practice Wednesday -- is "day-to-day" with an MCL issue in his right knee. Meanwhile, Sproles won't practice either Wednesday, as a precaution, per Berman. If either Mathews or Sproles are out or limited Monday night, Wendell Smallwood would presumably be in line for an uptick in work.

Mathews (knee) will not practice Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Mathews is considered day-to-day with his knee injury -- which bodes well for his long-term status -- but his setback will prevent him from taking the field Wednesday. He will have an extra day to recover with the Eagles playing Monday night in Week 12, but his week is not off to a promising start. The Eagles' running back situation is in limbo this week with both Mathews and Darren Sproles (ribs) banged up, and it will likely be a day or two before the situation becomes clearer. Wendell Smallwood and Kenjon Barner are candidates for more snaps if either or both of Mathews and Sproles is unable to play Monday.

Coach Doug Pederson relayed Monday that Mathews is day-to-day with a knee injury.
EDGE Analysis
Meanwhile, fellow RB Darren Sproles is dealing with a rib injury, but should play next Monday against the Packers. In the case of Mathews, the day-to-day description indicates that he avoided a serious knee injury Sunday, but for the time being his Week 12 status is unclear. With both Mathews and Sproles banged up in the Eagles' Week 11 loss to Seattle, Wendell Smallwood ended up leading the team with 13 carries (for 48) yards. Mathews logged seven carries for 31 yards prior to his exit from the contest.

Mathews (knee) will not return to Sunday's game against Seattle, Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mathews left in the first half of Sunday's game and was initially considered questionable to return. With Darren Sproles (ribs) also ruled out, Kenjon Barner and Wendall Smallwood will handle all the running back duties for the rest of the game.

Mathews is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Seahawks after suffering a knee injury.
EDGE Analysis
Mathews left with his knee injury in the first half Sunday and the team has yet to release any specifics on the issue. Darren Sproles and Kenjon Barner will see some extra snaps while Mathews is out.

Mathews carried 19 times for 109 yards and a pair of touchdowns Sunday against the Falcons. He also caught both of his targets for an additional 30 yards in the 24-15 win.
EDGE Analysis
Mathews' role appeared to be diminishing when Darren Sproles was named the starting tailback, but he received his second-highest number of touches and scored touchdowns number six and seven while compiling his best yardage output as well. Despite his success against Atlanta, Mathews will likely continue to split time with Sproles and Wendell Smallwood (13 carries, 70 yards), and next week's matchup against Seattle on the road will make it tough to trust any of the trio for fantasy purposes.

Mathews carried five times for 15 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Giants. He also caught his only target for no gain in the 28-23 loss.
EDGE Analysis
Mathews converted an eight-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, but he received eight fewer carries than Darren Sproles, who also saw eight additional looks in the passing game. He has six touchdowns on the season and figures to continue seeing work in the red zone, but Mathews appears to be second in line for carries between the 20s at the moment. This backfield configuration should continue next week as the Eagles take on the Falcons.

Mathews (tooth) practiced fully Thursday, Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Without confirmation from the Eagles or the running back himself, Mathews may have been limited by a dental procedure Wednesday, but the issue clearly won't impact his ability to play Sunday versus the Giants in New York. Moreover, he received a vote of confidence from head coach Doug Pederson this week as the team's No. 1 back, despite Darren Sproles handling most of the RB load this past Sunday in Dallas. Mathews is averaging a career-worst 3.8 YPC and has far less appeal than Sproles as a pass-catcher, though, making the former a difficult option to trust.

Mathews (tooth) was listed as limited on Wednesday's injury report, Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mathews may have endured a dental procedure this week, but no one related to the team has chimed in regarding his health. In any case, his reps were merely capped to kick off the week, so he appears on pace to be available for Sunday's road tilt against the Giants. If he indeed brushes off the issue, he's set to be the Eagles' top running back, as intimated by head coach Doug Pederson during Wednesday's media availability.

Head coach Doug Pederson said Wednesday that Mathews remains the Eagles' No. 1 running back, Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
If recent usage is any indication, the top back in Philadelphia would seemingly be Darren Sproles after he galloped for 86 yards on 15 carries Sunday at Dallas. In the same contest, Mathews was contained to four carries for 10 yards on his eight snaps, which is more indicative of player spelling the starter. Alas, Pederson will stick with Mathews for now, perhaps as a means to preserve the slight and aging Sproles.
