Lindley completed 23-of-39 passes for 316 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions during Sunday's defeat at the hands of San Francisco. In his second start of the season, Lindley finally finally proved serviceable, recording two touchdown strikes en route to 250 yards in the first half. The outing was mistake-laden, though, as his first two picks swung points in the 49ers' direction in an eventual three-point loss. His first one nixed a potential field goal try in the second quarter, and after the Cardinals' defense forced a punt to open the third, the next interception was only in the general vicinity of intended receiver John Brown, ending a lengthy drive that San Francisco turned into a touchdown of their own. The foibles aside, Lindley will now open the week of preparation as the expected starting quarterback for next Saturday's wild-card contest at Carolina, which will almost certainly be upheld following Drew Stanton's recent surgery to deal with an infection in his injured knee.

Lindley has replaced Logan Thomas as the starting quarterback for Sunday's contest at San Francisco, Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports. After an uninspiring performance this past Sunday against the Seahawks -- 18-of-44 passing for 216 yards with no touchdowns and one interception -- Lindley was deemed the backup in favor of Thomas, the rookie, but with the caveat that coach Bruce Arians would use a "quick hook" at any point during the week, according to Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site. Only one practice, Wednesday's, was required to make the move, and Lindley will now attempt to secure at least the No. 5 seed on the NFC side of the playoff equation.

Lindley completed 18-of-44 passes for 216 yards, with no touchdowns and one interception, in Sunday's 35-6 loss to the Seahawks. A trio of missed field goals kept Arizona in the game, but the Seahawks completely dominated outside of special teams. Lindley predictably struggled against a red-hot defense, and he now owns a 0-to-8 touchdown-to-interception ratio on 225 career pass attempts. A healthy Drew Stanton (knee) would obviously get the start in Week 17 against the 49ers, and there's perhaps some chance the Cardinals could turn to Logan Thomas in the event that Stanton isn't ready. Lindley still has a decent chance to start the regular-season finale, but he'd be a bottom-five quarterback option in a tough matchup.

Coach Bruce Arians has confirmed that Lindley will draw the start at QB for the Cardinals on Sunday against the Seahawks, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Though Lindley will start Sunday's game, the report suggests that there also will be a package of plays for fellow QB Logan Thomas. In any case, while facing a rugged Seattle defense Sunday, Lindley is not a high-percentage fantasy play in Week 16.

Filling in for an injured Drew Stanton (knee), Lindley completed 4-of-10 passes for 30 yards in Thursday's 12-6 win over the Rams. Lindley entered in the third quarter, and his first snap was a six-yard completion to set up a field goal that gave the Cardinals a 9-3 lead. He didn't do much the rest of the night, as Arizona's final field goal came from a run-heavy drive. It was a bit surprising to see Lindley get the nod over Logan Thomas, given that Thomas has been with the team all year, and is currently listed second on the depth chart. Even though he didn't impress, Lindley seems like the better bet to start next week's game against the Seahawks, if Stanton is unable to play. Stanton's injury appeared fairly serious, but he'll have 10 days to recover.

The Cardinals signed Lindley off the Chargers' practice squad Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports. Lindley, who appeared in six games with the Cardinals during the 2012 season, was brought in to add another quarterback to the roster with Carson Palmer (knee) on injured reserve. Lindley will slot in as the third quarterback behind Drew Stanton and Logan Thomas.

The Cardinals have released Lindley, the team's official site reports. The move was not unexpected, with draftee Logan Thomas now in line to serve as the team's No. 3 QB behind Carson Palmer and Drew Stanton.

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians openly discussed the possibility of only keeping two quarterbacks on the final roster. "We're going to keep the best 53," Arians promised. Arians conceded current third-stringer Ryan Lindley has "a strong enough arm," but he's been wildly interception prone in camp. Thrown into the fire as a sixth-round rookie in 2012, Lindley may have emerged with shot confidence. He threw zero touchdown passes and seven picks with 12 sacks absorbed across seven games (four starts).

Ryan Lindley was benched early in the third quarter of Week 16 in favor of Brian Hoyer. Hoyer was claimed off waivers from the Steelers on December 10. Lindley struggled as usual against the Bears, completing just 17-of-30 passes for 141 yards and an interception that was returned for a touchdown by Peanut Tillman. Look for Hoyer to close out a disappointing Cardinals season as the Week 17 starter, as well.

Ryan Lindley currently holds the NFL record for most passes in a season (141) without a touchdown pass. Lindley has yet to throw a touchdown and has an appalling bad 45.0 QB rating and 51.1 completion percentage in his first four appearances. If he manages to hold on to the starting job beyond Week 16, it's possible he'll remain scoreless for the entire season. The Cardinals face two top-six pass defenses in the Bears and 49ers the final two weeks.
