Allen was released from the Colts' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
EDGE Analysis
The 30-year-old joined Indianapolis' practice squad in early December and serve as the punter for the past two games, punting six times for 276 yards. Rigoberto Sanchez is apparently good to go after undergoing surgery in late November to remove cancerous tumor from his ankle, leading to Allen's release.

Allen has been elevated to the Colts' active roster.
EDGE Analysis
This move comes just days after Allen was signed to the team's practice squad. However, it was expected due to punter Rigoberto Sanchez (illness) being placed on injured reserve. Allen is now the only healthy punter on the roster.

Allen was released by the Falcons on Sunday, per the team's official Twitter account.
EDGE Analysis
Allen was released and then quickly re-signed by Atlanta in March, as the team took advantage of minimum salary benefit rules to bolster its cap situation. This release seems less procedural in nature, however, and offers seventh-round rookie Sterling Hofrichter a chance to start immediately. It was a rotating door at punter last year for Atlanta, as Allen, Matt Bosher (groin), Kasey Redfern and Matt Wile all had auditions to overtake the starting role. Now with a young boot acquired in Hofrichter, the Falcons will look for more stability at the position.

Allen has re-joined the Falcons after being cut Friday in what was a "procedural move," per Jason Butt of The Athletic.
EDGE Analysis
The 30-year-old punter was moved off and then back onto the roster within a matter of 24 hours, as Atlanta's front office wisely took advantage of minimum salary benefit rules to maneuver salary cap space. Now back on the roster after a brief hiatus, Allen will compete for the role of starting punter in training camp after posting a career-worst 41.9 yards-per-punt average during 2019.

Allen signed a one-year contract extension with the Falcons on Tuesday, Will McFadden of the team's official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Allen played eight games for the Falcons in 2019 after signing in November. He averaged 41.9 yards over 28 punts, and he landed 14 of those inside the 20. There's no guarantee Allen wins the starting job in training camp, however, as Matt Bosher (groin) could be re-signed after spending the last nine seasons with the team.

Allen signed with the Falcons on Saturday, and he is expected to serve as the team's starting punter during Sunday's game against Carolina.
EDGE Analysis
Long-time punter Matt Bosher (groin) has been beleaguered by injury throughout 2019, but he appeared to have a chance to go in Week 14 after being activated from injured reserve and tabbed with a questionable designation. He has since been shelved with injury again, leading to the re-signing of Allen, who punted for the Falcons between Weeks 10 and 13 in Bosher's absence.
