Turbin will be the primary running back behind Frank Gore on Sunday against the Browns due to Marlon Mack's (shoulder) absence.
EDGE Analysis
Mack mustered one limited practice this week, which may have been enough for the training staff to have the rookie focus on rehab instead of game preparation. With Mack poised for the Week 3 inactive list, his reps should be absorbed by Gore, Turbin and potentially Matt Jones, who was promoted from the practice squad Friday. After two games, Mack carried the rock 16 times on his 28 offensive snaps, so Turbin is a good candidate to see an uptick in that realm.

Turbin had three carries for 11 yards and one reception for eight yards in Sunday's loss to Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
Turbin played more snaps on offense (28) than Robert Mack (11) behind Frank Gore in a reversal from Week 1. Turbin may get more playing time in the short term as Mack may have struggled in pass protection, but Mack may still get the nod as the starter if Gore were to get hurt given the explosiveness Mack has shown at times.

Turbin had two carries for seven yards and lost four yards on his only reception in Sunday's loss to the Rams.
EDGE Analysis
The season opener had a number of negative developments for Turbin's fantasy value. The Indy offense looks terrible without Andrew Luck at quaterback and Marlon Mack had more carries and was used at the goal line (scoring on a two-yard run). Turbin may have fallen to third on the depth chart and lost his goal-line role as a result.

Turbin (undisclosed) is not listed on the injury report for Sunday's game in Los Angeles.
EDGE Analysis
Turbin sat out the final two preseason games but doesn't seem to have missed much practice time. He'll open the campaign as Frank Gore's top backup, though fourth-round rookie Marlon Mack could eventually push for a portion of the workload.

Turbin, who didn't play in Saturday's preseason game, has been in and out of practice with an unspecified injury, Stephen Holder of The Indianapolis Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's not clear if Turbin did not play in Saturday's preseason game because he was hurt or just got the game off. Turbin was set begin the season as the backup to Frank Gore and could reprise his role as the goal-line back. However, Marlon Mack could move ahead of him on the depth chart if Turbin is hurt to begin the regular season.

Turbin didn't have a carry or reception in Saturday's preseason win over Pittsburgh.
EDGE Analysis
Turbin got the night off so the Colts could take a look at Marlon Mack with the first team offense. Turbin will begin the season as the backup to Frank Gore and could reprise his role as the goal-line back. If Gore were to get hurt, however, it's uncertain whether he or Mack would become the primary ball carrier.

Turbin had five carries for 15 yards and three receptions for 17 yards in Saturday's preseason loss at Dallas.
EDGE Analysis
Turbin had a productive game and was the second running back used after Frank Gore. Marlon Mack looked strong (5 carries for 45 yards) in his preseason debut and could challenge for the backup role, but Turbin should begin the season as Gore's backup and as the goal-line back.

Turbin rushed for just six yards on five carries in Sunday's preseason loss to the Lions.
EDGE Analysis
Two of Turbin's five carries went for negative yardage. Low yards-per-carry totals are typically due to a combination of factors, including poor line play, but Turbin has been held to 3.5 yards per carry or less in three of six seasons with four total teams. Despite the mediocre track record, Turbin is probably worth a flier. He scored eight times in 2016 despite just 73 touches and 2017 comes both with a greater need to rest veteran Frank Gore and a shoulder injury to Turbin's primary competition, rookie Marlon Mack.

The Colts likely will use more of a committee approach in the backfield this season, giving Turbin a heavier workload than last season's 47 carries and 35 targets, Mike Chappell of CBS 4 Indianapolis reports.
EDGE Analysis
Turbin only produced 3.5 yards per carry and 5.1 yards per target last season, but he found the end zone on eight of his 73 touches, including three of his his four carries from inside the 5-yard line and seven of his 14 from inside the 10. Fourth-round rookie Marlon Mack may be the flashier option to alleviate some of 34-year-old Frank Gore's workload, but Turbin's strong work in the red zone and as a pass blocker makes him the better bet to handle a significant snap count in Week 1. Turbin still doesn't offer much upside, as he failed to produce a 20-yard gain last season and has a long gain of just 26 yards on 328 career carries. He'd likely share playing time with Mack, and possibly Josh Ferguson, in the event of a Gore injury.

Turbin will have to battle Josh Ferguson and 2017 fourth-round draft pick Marlon Mack for whatever touches Frank Gore doesn't get, Stephen Holder of The Indianapolis Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, the Colts added backfield competition during the draft, making Mack the 15th running back selected (at No. 143 overall) in a strong class for the position. Turbin signed a two-year contract earlier in the offseason, but it's a modest sized deal which suggests he won't be handed the top backup job. Ferguson figures to compete for playing time on passing downs, while Mack is an immediate threat to supplant Turbin as the No. 2 option for carries.
