Chung is ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jaguars due to a concussion, Zack Cox of NESN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Duron Harmon will replace Chung as New England's starting strong safety for the remainder of Sunday's game. The 31-year-old will look ahead to Week 3, and attempt to clear the league's concussion protocol in time to suit up for the Patriots' matchup against Detroit.

The extension Chung signed Saturday is worth two years and will keep him in New England through the 2020 season, Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chung has been a mainstay in the Patriots secondary since New England selected him in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He'll be 31 years old at the start of the 2018 campaign, but his advanced age is yet to show in the stat sheets considering he's averaged 86.3 tackles over the past four years while notching at least seven pass breakups in three of those four seasons. Chung will remain on the IDP radar so long as he holds his grip on his starting job throughout the remainder of the offseason.

Chung signed a contract extension with the Patriots on Saturday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chung has been a staple of the New England secondary for the better part of a half decade now. Entering his 10th NFL season, it's reasonable to expect the safety's playing days are pivoting towards the end of the road. Chung has reached at least 84 tackles in each of the last four seasons with the Patriots.

Chung finished the 2017 regular season with 84 tackles and a pick in 16 games.
EDGE Analysis
Drafted by the Patriots in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft, Chung left the team after the 2012 season via free agency, signing a three-year, $10 million with the Eagles. After being cut by Philadelphia following just one season, Chung resurfaced with the Patriots and he's been a mainstay of the team's defense since then. The 30-year-old remains under contract with New England in 2018 and he's in line retain his status the team's starting strong safety next year, working in tandem with free safety Devin McCourty.

Chung (ankle) will play in Sunday's game against Miami.
EDGE Analysis
Chung was limited in practice Thursday and Friday but his injury doesn't appear severe enough to sideline him. Though it isn't clear if he's 100 percent, he'll be expected to start and see his typical role on the defense.

Chung (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup against the Dolphins.
EDGE Analysis
Chung presumably injured his ankle last week against the Raiders. After watching Wednesday's practice from the sidelines, he practiced in limited fashion Thursday an Friday. An official ruling on his status is unlikely to be made until closer to game-time Sunday. Jordan Richards would be the likely candidate to fill in at strong safety should Chung ultimately sit out.
