The illness is not related to the arteriovenous malformation in Patterson's brain that affected him last season and required surgery. Team trainer Rick Burkholder said Patterson was "doing fine" and was stable while the team awaited test results. Patterson has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and will not travel with the team.
