Schaub completed all six of his pass attempts for 65 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 37-10 loss to the Rams.
EDGE Analysis
The 38-year-old signal-caller saw his first playing time of 2019 while serving as place holder for the injured Matt Bosher (groin) in Week 6, but Sunday he attempted his first regular-season pass since Week 5 of last year. He hasn't registered a start since 2015, when he went 1-1 for the Ravens during a two-game stint in relief of Joe Flacco, completing 65 percent of his passes for 270 yards per game and logging a 3:4 TD:INT ratio. Schaub may be counted on in Week 8 if Matt Ryan's MRI (ankle) suggests that he needs to take time to recover. Should Schaub, in fact, be forced into action, he would be leading the Falcons against a Seahawks defense that has allowed just one touchdown pass over the past two weeks, while forcing three interceptions.

Schaub completed 12 of 19 pass attempts for 172 yards during Thursday's 34-27 loss to Miami.
EDGE Analysis
So much for Schaub being washed up. After a nightmarish outing in the Hall of Fame Game in which he completed just four of 14 pass attempts for 10 yards and an interception, the 16-year veteran was effective in leading Atlanta to scores on four of his five offensive drives (excluding a one-play drive just before the half in which Schaub kneeled to run out the clock). A draft-class mate of Eli Manning, Philip Rivers and Ben Roethlisberger, Schaub believes he can continue to contribute at the highest level of the game. "I love what I'm doing," Schaub said Friday. "The team believes I can do it. That's why I'm here. I still love playing this game."

Schaub completed four of 14 pass attempts for 10 yards, with zero touchdowns and one interception during Thursday's 14-10 loss to Denver in the Hall of Fame Game.
EDGE Analysis
The 38-year-old signal-caller was relieved by Kurt Benkert (toe) late in the first quarter, but had to be re-inserted into the lineup when his fellow Virginia Cavalier suffered an injury in the fourth quarter. Atlanta's offense was utterly stagnant when Schaub was under center, as he completed just three of his first 10 passes for minus-two yards, while failing to yield a score of any kind on six offensive drives. Based on each player's performance Thursday night, it appears that Benkert has a puncher's chance to dethrone Schaub for the backup role if capable of quickly recovering from his toe injury.

Schaub agreed to a two-year contract extension Saturday, the Falcons' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran backup saw appearances in three games during 2018, but only one of those did he actually attempt a pass. Schaub has started just two games since 2014, so it's fair to suggest this deal likely won't pay the soon-to-be 38-year-old an exorbitant amount of money.

Schaub appeared in three games in 2018, throwing for 20 yards on 5-for-7 passing.
EDGE Analysis
Schaub hasn't seen extended action since he was the starter in Houston in 2013. The veteran has been a backup the last several years, never seeing any significant time. If he returns in 2019 he'll enter his age-38 season.

Schaub completed all nine of his pass attempts in a 17-0 loss to the Jets on Friday, closing the night with 54 yards through the air.
EDGE Analysis
The wily Schaub was able to get the ball in the hands of his playmakers, but didn't necessarily provide them with space to maneuver in the open field. Schaub averaged six yards per attempt in his first action of the season, well short of the league average for starting quarterbacks from last year (7.1) as well as his personal career average of 7.6 yards per attempt. Fellow Virginia Wahoo Kurt Benkert didn't exactly set the world on fire in his pro debut (nine completions on 17 attempts, 125 yards and one interception), so Schaub remains firmly entrenched as the No. 2 quarterback heading into the second week of preseason action.

Schaub signed a two-year, $9 million contract with Atlanta on Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Schaub joined the Falcons as their backup quarterback last season after beginning his career as a backup with the team in 2004. He provides the team with a quality, veteran backup behind reigning MVP Matt Ryan.

Schaub completed eight of 12 passes for 78 yards in Thursday's preseason game against the Browns.
EDGE Analysis
Schaub completed 10 of 15 passes for 179 yards in the first preseason game, and while Thursday's performance was far less impressive, there's been no indication he's facing any real pressure for the No. 2 quarterback job. Starter Matt Ryan hasn't missed a game since 2009.

The Falcons have signed Schaub, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran QB will thus reunite with Kyle Shanahan, who he worked with while both were with Houston, with Schaub now slated to serve as Matt Ryan's backup in 2016.

Schaub said he does not plan to retire, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 34-year-old Schaub only had a one-year contract with the Ravens and probably didn't do enough to earn another look. He should still get an opportunity with another organization, but he'll be a long shot to make a final roster, which could eventually lead to his retirement.
