ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Redskins remain interested in re-signing free agent ILB London Fletcher. Coach Mike Shanahan confirmed late last month the sides had resumed talking, but the Redskins' salary-cap woes have complicated the situation. With Washington since 2007, the soon-to-be 37-year-old Fletcher hasn't made any visits in free agency.

Coach Mike Shanahan confirmed contract negotiations have resumed between the Redskins and free agent ILB London Fletcher. Added GM Bruce Allen, "We're going to try very hard to get him back in the burgundy and gold. And he has told us that he wants to come back. It's just going to take maybe a little longer than we wanted to work it out."

According to FOXSports.com's Alex Marvez, the Redskins' cap penalties could hinder contract talks with free agent ILB London Fletcher. The Redskins have expressed interest in bringing back Fletcher, but won't have the option of backloading his contract going into his age-37 season. If Fletcher returns with Washington, it will be at a bargain-basement salary.

Free agent ILB London Fletcher "remains on the radar" after the Redskins' early flurry of free agent moves. "I'm not going to hide behind the fact that we love London," GM Bruce Allen recently said. "We hope he's a Redskin." We've yet to see reports of other teams interested in bringing in the 37-year-old stalwart.

Free agent ILB London Fletcher says he is willing to leave the Redskins if the sides can't find common ground. "Hopefully, we'll get something done," he said. "But if I make it to March 13 (unsigned), who knows?" Fletcher indicated some frustration with the team's 2011 record of 5-11. "I'd love to go back to Washington, but obviously it's a business," Fletcher added. "It'll take some time to get done but we both want to get a deal done." Fletcher turns 37 in May.

Redskins GM Bruce Allen confirmed during Super Bowl week that the team intends to re-sign free agent ILB London Fletcher. "We want to. We want to, and he wants to come back," Allen said. "We're just waiting for the season to finish, and then we're gonna take care of business. He's a captain. We want our captain back." Fletcher turns 37 in May, but has started 224 straight games and his performance has not been an issue. The sides should be able to work out a short-term deal before free agency begins.

Free agent ILB London Fletcher's "first choice" is to re-sign with the Redskins, "if they me." Fletcher's 224 consecutive games played streak is tied with Ronde Barber for the most among active players. "He is playing at a very high level," coach Mike Shanahan said. "What I mean is you want him on your football team." Shanahan had previously stated that re-signing Fletcher will be a "priority" this offseason.

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan stated Monday that re-signing ILB London Fletcher will be a "priority for us" in the offseason. It sounds like the Skins may try to do an extension by February. Fletcher turns 37 before next season, but he's a team leader and still one of the most productive linebackers in the game. He led the NFL in tackles in 2011.

Defensive coordinator Jim Haslett said the coaches have talked to GM Bruce Allen about re-signing impending free agent MLB London Fletcher. Fletcher will be 37 in May but is still playing at an extremely high level. He leads the league with 146 tackles, hasn't missed a game in his entire 14-year career and is a true leader for the Redskins. The two sides should be able to work out a deal.

Redskins MLB London Fletcher (hamstring, questionable) is expected to be active for Week 8. Fletcher was forced from last Sunday's loss to the Panthers, but will take the field for his 215th consecutive game barring a setback. Second on the Redskins with 43 tackles, Fletcher is a good bet to reach 100 tackles for the 12th straight season.
