Paulsen has the skill set and history with head coach Kyle Shanahan to make a serious bid for a roster spot this season, Matt Barrows of The Sacramento Bee reports.
EDGE Analysis
At 30 years old, Paulsen is the elder statesman of the group of tight ends currently in camp. While that works against him on paper, his size (6-foot-5, 268 pounds), blocking ability and presence as a red zone threat (six touchdowns on 82 receptions) make the veteran a good fit for Shanahan's offense. Both he and Garrett Celek possess similar skill sets, and they will likely compete for a spot on the depth chart this preseason.

Paulsen will sign with the 49ers, CSN Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
Valued primarily for his blocking, Paulsen has 82 receptions in six professional seasons, with only three of those catches coming last year for the Bears. San Francisco seems to be targeting the middle tiers of free agency, also reaching early agreements with QB Brian Hoyer, FB Kyle Juszczyk and WRs Pierre Garcon and Marquise Goodwin.

Paulsen ended the season with three receptions for 15 yards while being targeted 15 times.
EDGE Analysis
When the Bears lost Zach Miller to a foot injury in Week 11, Paulsen seemed to be in line to step up as the primary receiving option, but that role was taken over by Dan Brown. Actually, Paulsen didn't see a single target over the last five games of the season, and he'll enter the off-season as a free agent. He's only piled up 816 receiving yards since 2010, and he'll likely sign with a team as a backup tight end, and he'll face long odds to be a strong fantasy option.

Paulsen was targeted once, but failed to catch a pass, Sunday against the Titans.
EDGE Analysis
Paulsen had just one of the seven passes thrown to the three Chicago tight ends sent his way on a day that quarterback Matt Barkley threw the ball 54 times for 316 yards. Although he's the most experienced tight end on the active roster, there are likely much better fantasy options on the waiver wire.

Paulsen caught two of his three pass targets for 10 yards Sunday against the Lions.
EDGE Analysis
Paulsen saw the same amount of targets as Zach Miller, though he was used simply on short passing routes. He could have value as a backup tight end for fantasy teams should Miller lose time due to injury.

Paulsen signed a contract with the Bears on Sunday, Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times reports
EDGE Analysis
Paulsen missed the entire 2015 season while recovering from toe surgery, but re-signed with the Redskins earlier this offseason before being released on Saturday. However, he's now slated to join the Bears, where he should be able to carve out a role as a blocking tight end, as well as a candidate to play special teams.

The Redskins released Paulsen on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Paulsen was hoping to add tight end depth to the team. However, with Jordan Reed and Vernon Davis already locked into the first two spots on the depth chart, the 29-year-old figured to be a long shot for making the final roster.

Paulsen's chances of making the 53-man roster remain in limbo, John Keim of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Paulsen is no stranger to the roster bubble. While he has managed to survive final cuts in the past, there is no guarantee that the Redskins opt to keep three tight ends this season. There are some close to the organization who remain optimistic, but also others who could see Washington parting ways with the 29-year-old after five seasons with the team. Ultimately, the team will have until Saturday to determine whether or not Paulsen will be donning red and yellow in 2016.

Paulsen is signing a one-year contract to remain with the Redskins, ESPN's Adam Caplin reports.
EDGE Analysis
Paulsen has spent his entire six-year career with the Redskins, but missed all of last season after having toe surgery in August. A backup tight end, Paulsen will hope for a healthy 2016 campaign, but his fantasy stock is rather minuscule.

Washington Redskins tight end Logan Paulson will have season-ending surgery on his big toe Monday, according to the Washington Post. Tight end Niles Paul was already ruled out for the season with his own injury, leaving Jordan Reed as the top player on the depth chart, though he is also dealing with a hamstring injury.
