2012 Conference Championships: Turnovers and Tight Ends fantasysharks.com Sat 1/21/12 1:06 AM

Welcome to the Conference Championship edition of the Brew Crew Corner. Two games this week will decide who will go to the Super Bowl. Last weekend it was turnovers that sunk three teams while tight ends decided some other games. The Houston Texans threw three interceptions and a lost a fumble, the New Orleans Saints threw two interceptions and lost three fumbles, while the Green Bay Packers had one interception and lost three fumbles in their loss. Not taking care of the football gave the other teams additional opportunities, and it cost these three teams dearly. I've never seen a year where we've had so many stud tight ends playing in the playoffs, and last weekend we saw four tight ends dominate in games. For the New England Patriots, Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez destroyed the Denver Broncos. Gronkowski had 145 yards and three touchdowns while Hernandez had four receptions for 55 yards and one touchdown, and he added five carries for 55 yards. In San Francisco, Vernon Davis had seven catches for 180 yards and two touchdowns as he out performed Jimmy Graham, who had five receptions for 103 yards and two touchdowns. Tight ends will definitely be a factor in the Conference Championship games. Look for Jake Ballard and even Dennis Pitta to have key grabs this weekend. Last week we analyzed the value of the running backs for 2011. This week we will look at the wide receivers for this season. Corner Lockdown: Covering Week 4 fantasysharks.com Fri 9/30/11 3:51 PM

Running Wild Though his shoulder is still a little banged up, Cowboys runningback Felix Jones fully practiced the last two days and is good to go for Week4. Many people don't like his matchup against Detroit's tough defensive line, but he should be started in all fantasy leagues this weekend. Jones is comingoff his best game of the young season, rushing for 115 yards on just 14 carriesand also grabbing three passes for another 40 yards before leaving late in thegame because of his shoulder, so his confidence is high and Dallas will findways to get him the ball in the open field. He's such a weapon out of thebackfield with his pass catching ability and is a lock to finish with over 100total yards in Week 4 barring any setbacks with his shoulder. The Cowboysoffense as a whole is pretty banged up so I expect Jones to get at least 20touches on Sunday and find the end zone against the Lions. An injury to Knowshon Moreno has helped Willis McGaheebecome the starting running back in Denver and though Moreno is back, McGaheeis still the lead back. He got the start in Week 3 and ran the ball 22 times. He only managed 52 yards against the Titans, but did catch a short touchdownpass so it was a very solid day for McGahee owners. He has started the last twogames and has received 50 carries over that span so he's definitely getting thetouches to deserve a start on your fantasy roster. McGahee does have a toughcontest against the Packers this Sunday, but the fact that he should see mostof the carries once again bodes well for him and his fantasy value. Even ifMoreno sees a decent amount of work, McGahee is the primary goal line back andwill get all carries inside the five so that adds to his worth as well. Matt Forte has been a big disappointment in the running gamefor the Bears through the first three weeks, but he has more than made up forit with his receiving skills. Forte has just 119 yards rushing on 35 carrieswhich is good for a lousy 3.4 average and zero touchdowns, but he's been veryimpressive in the aerial attack for Chicago. Forte has managed 22 receptions alreadyfor 287 yards and a score. It's very strange for a first round fantasy pick toonly average about 40 yards a game on the ground, but still be a must startevery week. After three weeks, Forte is averaging right around 135 total yardsper game and though the touchdowns haven't been there, they should start tocome more frequently. He's got a dream matchup against the Panthers on Sundayso expect Forte to ...
