ESPN's Matt Williamson thinks 50 catches is a "reasonable expectation" for Chiefs WR Jonathan Baldwin this season. Baldwin caught 21 balls in 11 games last season, but the first-round pick was still getting up to NFL speed. In 2012, the Chiefs will continue their run-first philosophy and institute more two-tight sets, making Baldwin's road to fantasy relevance a tough one. To eclipse 50 receptions, he'll need to pass out Steve Breaston on the depth chart or Dwayne Bowe's holdout will need to carry into the regular season.

Jonathan Baldwin's rapid development has been "sensational" early in Chiefs camp. Baldwin is one of the handful of young NFL players drawing the most raves for his work over the past week. Coaches have been impressed with his ability to make spectacular catches seem routine. NFL.com's Bucky Brooks notes that he has also "started to figure out how to utilize his superior physical traits to dominate on the perimeter." We're anxious to see if Baldwin's emergence pushes Steve Breaston to the slot.

People in and around the organization tell SI.com's Jim Trotter that Jonathan Baldwin has "displayed greater maturity and focus" this year. Baldwin spent last summer dealing with a hamstring injury, struggling to separate from corners, and brawling with Thomas Jones in the locker room. Showing improved route running and ability to read defenses, Baldwin has "put on a show" while filling in for Dwayne Bowe early in camp.

With Dwayne Bowe officially holding out, 2011 first-round pick Jonathan Baldwin opened Chiefs training camp as a starter opposite Steve Breaston. "His weight is down," coach Romeo Crennel observed of Baldwin. "He's in great shape. He's got a good attitude. I anticipate he will have a good year going forward." Baldwin also got first-team reps in spring practices, and would start if Bowe missed regular season games. We just don't see that happening.

Chiefs WR Jonathan Baldwin "starred" in offseason practices, according to the Kansas City Star. Baldwin made a handful of circus catches and was an effective red-zone weapon while picking up first-team reps in place of unsigned franchise player Dwayne Bowe. It will be interesting to see if Baldwin emerges as a realistic option opposite Bowe, perhaps pushing Steve Breaston into the slot.

Jonathan Baldwin (migraines) was a full participant in Monday's OTA practice. Baldwin sat out Friday's session, but the quick return confirms that this isn't a Percy Harvin kind of situation. Baldwin is currently penciled in as the Chiefs' No. 3 wideout, behind Dwayne Bowe and Steve Breaston.

Chiefs coach Romeo Crennel confirmed that Jonathan Baldwin missed Friday's OTA practice due to a migraine. Baldwin actually tweeted late Thursday that he had a migraine, and Crennel confirmed it. "He had a migraine (Thursday) and he's going to go to the doctor today, so we'll just have to wait to see," Crennel said. This shouldn't be an issue so long as Baldwin recovers from the migraine quickly. Most people do.

According to the Kansas City Star, 2011 first-round pick Jonathan Baldwin has been dealing with "recent migraine problems." This is the first we've heard of the migraines, though Baldwin did miss some late-season practice time with an undisclosed "illness" as a rookie. Baldwin was absent from Friday's OTA workout. When he has been on the practice field, Baldwin has looked dominant, by all accounts. He's been running with the first-team offense while franchise player Dwayne Bowe remains unsigned.

The Kansas City Star believes the Chiefs will look to get Jonathan Baldwin the ball more in single coverage this season. The 6-foot-4, 230 pound Baldwin has been turning heads with his physicality in OTAs, and reportedly has a much better understanding of the playbook than he did as a rookie. "He's such a big target, and he's so physical that you just kind of have to put it in the vicinity and try not to overthrow him," Matt Cassel said Tuesday. "Just give him an opportunity to go up and out-battle somebody for the ball." Baldwin is the No. 54 overall receiver in Rotoworld's initial rankings.
