Coach Leslie Frazier confirmed that Joe Webb will continue to play exclusively at quarterback.
Webb is reportedly running neck-and-neck with Christian Ponder for the backup quarterback gig. But even if/when Webb ends up as the No. 3, he'll have a gameday role thanks to the new CBA rules. "The fact that we can dress 46 now, we don't have that third quarterback sitting," Frazier said. "There's a very good chance we'll find a role for [Webb]. He's a tremendous athlete."

Under the proposed CBA, NFL gameday rosters will expand from 45 to 46, with the No. 3 quarterback no longer inactive.
Beginning this year, teams like the Vikings and Steelers can leave Joe Webb and Dennis Dixon active for more creative play-calling. It's also a way for rookie QBs such as the Ravens' Tyrod Taylor to see the field even if they remain projects as passers.

Vikings QB Joe Webb has spent the past few weeks in Hattiesburg, Mississippi working on his passing skills with Brett Favre.
Favre was reluctant to take on a mentoring role in Green Bay and New York, but it's a different story now that he's out of the league. It's nice to see Webb actively working to improve, but as a raw developmental QB he desperately needed another round of OTAs and minicamps.
