Free agent DL Jason Jones will visit the Lions. CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reported on Monday that Jones was at the top of the Lions' wish list. Jones can play both end and tackle, and he could be an option to replace Cliff Avril or Kyle Vanden Bosch on the outside. He can also move inside on passing downs. Jones has been linked to five or six teams.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports DL Jason Jones "appears to be at the top" of the Lions' free-agent wish list. Lions head coach Jim Schwartz is Jones' old defensive coordinator from Tennessee. Though not nearly the pass rusher Cliff Avril was, Jones could replace him at left end and rush the passer at defensive tackle on nickel downs. Jones' age (27 in May) and versatility make him an attractive free-agent target.

Free agent DL Jason Jones is reportedly drawing interest from the Giants, Lions, Browns, and Chiefs. These clubs run a variety of different defenses, but Jones has scheme-versatile traits at 6-foot-5, 276 with both run-stopping and pass-rushing ability. Jones turns 27 in May. The Rams showed strong interest in Jones last offseason.

StLouisRams.com mentions free agent DL Jason Jones as a potential target for the team. Only if free agent DL William Hayes leaves via free agency would St. Louis be in need of a defensive lineman, but both Jones and Hayes have experience with coach Jeff Fisher from their Tennessee days. The Rams had Jones in for a visit last season, but he picked the Seahawks. Fisher likes his linemen to be able to play both tackle and end, which is precisely what Jones can do.

Seahawks placed DL Jason Jones (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season. Jones has battled a sore knee throughout the season, and coach Pete Carroll said it flared up after last week's game. He had four sacks and 10 QB hurries as an effective situational pass rusher in his second season with the Seahawks. He's a free agent in 2013. Hebron Fangupo was elevated from the practice squad to take Jones' roster spot.

The Seahawks are expected to prioritize re-signing DL Jason Jones this offseason. Despite having just 2.5 sacks, Jones has been highly-effective for the Seahawks as a rotational lineman and is rated as a Top-25 defensive tackle by Pro Football Focus. After settling for a one-year deal in free agency, he seems likely to holdout for a long-term contract.

Seahawks DL Jason Jones (ankle) is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Lions. Jones is making the trip to Detroit after not practicing all week, but head coach Pete Carroll doesn't expect him to play. Jones signed as a free agent in the offseason and is third on the team with 2.5 sacks as a rotational lineman. His injury opens the door for seventh-round rookie Greg Scruggs, who is expected to see an uptick in playing time against Detroit.

The Seahawks plan to use newly acquired Jason Jones all around the defensive line, but will feature him as an inside rusher in the nickel. Jones may see some time at end on early downs, but he will primarily be a pass-rushing defensive tackle. That's his strength. "We're hoping that we can really feature him in all of our nickel package stuff," said coach Pete Carroll. "... We'd like to see him as an inside rusher for those packages and then we'll play him some outside and times in some different spots that try to utilize his quickness. ... He's got big-play ability to him."
