New York Giants linebacker Jameel McClain is expected to miss a significant amount of time after suffering a severe neck stinger during practice Wednesday, according to The Record. McClain, who has a history of neck and spinal injuries, is currently without a timetable for his return and is in jeopardy of missing some of the regular season. "Chances are because of the extent of the trauma, he's going to have to sit awhile," Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said. "I wouldn't be able to guess [a timetable for his return]. I'm sure that [his injury history] is part of it. Very difficult. Very tough. You miss time and you really have a difficult time making it up. It's not good to miss practice. It's what we're here for." The team will exercise extreme caution with McClain's latest neck injury, and they have not given any estimate of his return date yet.

McClain (knee) is listed as active Sunday against the Eagles, Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News reports. McClain ranks as the Giants' leading tackler with 108 (68 solo), but the remainder of his line (2.5 sacks and one forced fumble) is somewhat sparse. Nonetheless, IDP owners should continue to rely upon his services.

McClain (knee) is active for Sunday's game in St. Louis, the Giants' official site reports. Since assuming duty as the Giants' starting middle linebacker for good in Week 9, McClain has notched at least six tackles in six of seven outings, totaling 61 (41 solo) in all to go with two sacks and one forced fumble. As a result, he should continue to be utilized in IDP formats.

With Jon Beason out for the year, McClain should take over as the team's primary starting middle linebacker. McClain should be a decent source of tackles in deeper IDP leagues.

McClain will start at middle linebacker during Sunday's game against the Falcons, ESPN reports. McClain will receive a third straight start at middle linebacker, as veteran teammate Jon Beason continues to struggle with a toe injury. Through four games, McClain ranks second on the Giants' defense with 24 tackles (12 solo).

McClain started at middle linebacker Sunday, led the team with 11 tackles and added half a sack. Jon Beason could return soon, but McClain becomes a useful IDP if Beason can't make it back by Thursday night.

McClain could see work at middle linebacker with Jon Beason out. Mark Herzlich saw snaps at the position after Beason went down Sunday, but didn't play especially well. Should McClain fill the role, he'd be a decent source of tackles in deeper IDP leagues.

X-rays on Giants SLB Jameel McClain's foot came back negative. However, ESPN's Josina Anderson reports McClain could undergo an MRI on Wednesday. For now, the Giants are saying McClain is simply dealing with "soreness" after being carted off the practice field on Tuesday. The G-Men can ill afford McClain's injury to be serious with Jon Beason (foot) on the shelf.

Giants DC Perry Fewell said the team signed LB Jameel McClain partly as insurance against an injury to LB Jon Beason. Fewell said the Giants brought McClain in to start at outside 'backer, but they also viewed him as a player who could step in for Beason in the event of an injury. The insurance policy paid of quickly, as Beason injured his foot during OTAs and is now questionable for the start of the season. McClain may be able to play middle linebacker, but he is an underwhelming option. The Giants need Beason to get healthy quickly.

Jameel McClain is penciled in as one of the Giants starting outside linebackers. McClain inked a two-year, $4.1 million deal with the G-Men last month. After MLB Jon Beason's re-signing, McClain will flank him at one of the outside spots. Spencer Paysinger and Jacquian Williams will compete on the opposite side. Other than possibly Beason, there's no IDP value here whatsoever.
