Rodgers was released by the Saints on Friday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rodgers had been with the Saints for the last three-plus weeks but was unable to impress enough to make the final roster. Rodgers put some decent work with the Buccaneers over the last three seasons but hasn't had much staying power in the league.

Rodgers carried the ball seven times for 33 yards and a touchdown while catching one of two targets for nine yards in Thursday's preseason loss to the Dolphins.
EDGE Analysis
He led the Saints in carries and was the leading rusher among the RBs, although Taysom Hill actually outgained Rodgers on the ground. The journeyman needed a good performance to unseat Dwayne Washington (concussion) for the No. 3 spot on the depth chart, and while his one-yard TD plunge in the fourth quarter was nice, it may not have moved the needle enough for Rodgers.

Rodgers signed a contract with the Saints on Saturday, Luke Johnson of USA Today reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rodgers will replace Rob Kelley, who was released in a corresponding move, on the depth chart. The scatback will likely need to unseat Dwayne Washington on the depth chart in order to earn a spot on the Saints' 53-man roster, but at the very least his versatility figures to be better suited to the team's offense than the lumbering Kelley. Rodgers has recorded at least 60 touches in all but one of his eight professional seasons, but he hasn't been particularly efficient with his looks as of late, averaging under four yards per carry and under 8.3 yards per reception in each of the past two years.

Rodgers has yet to sign a contract this offseason, Geoffrey Arnold of The Oregonian reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rodgers isn't expected to stay in Tampa Bay with a new coaching staff taking over, but he might consider following Dirk Koetter back to Atlanta. Whatever the case, it's likely the 29-year-old ends up battling for a roster spot if/when he signs with a new team. Rodgers remained competent as a pass catcher in 16 games for the Bucs last season, bringing in 38 of 45 targets (84.4 percent) for 304 yards without any touchdowns. He owns career marks of just 3.8 yards per carry and 7.4 yards per reception, but his 82.1 percent catch rate (216 of 263 targets) is excellent even for a running back.

Rodgers rushed three times for three yards and brought in his only target for two yards in the Buccaneers' 34-32 loss to the Falcons on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Rodgers wrapped up the 2018 campaign in modest fashion, but the veteran was actually much more involved than what would have been expected prior to the season. In fact, Rodgers was no lock for a roster spot until Charles Sims went down with a knee issue in preseason and was subsequently released with an injury settlement. Rodgers ultimately saw action in all 17 games, although he failed to log any offensive touches in three contests overall. However, the veteran was often deployed as Peyton Barber's primary backup, given that rookie second-round pick Ronald Jones II had trouble staying healthy and was ineffective whenever he did log playing time. Rodgers finished with a modest 106 rushing yards and a touchdown on 33 carries (3.2 yards per rush), but he posted his best reception (38) and receiving yardage (304) totals since the 2013 campaign in Atlanta. A personal favorite of former coach Dirk Koetter from their time together with the Falcons, it remains to be seen if the new regime will be interested in bringing Rodgers, now an unrestricted free agent, back into the fold in 2019.

Rodgers rushed twice for two yards and a touchdown and brought in all seven of his targets for 55 yards in the Buccaneers' 27-20 loss to the Cowboys on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Rodgers' two-yard touchdown with 20 seconds remaining in the first half was his first score on the ground since the regular-season opener against the Bears in 2017. The veteran running back made his mark as a receiver out of the backfield, however, posting his second-best reception and receiving yardage totals of the campaign. Rodgers' production has naturally fluctuated this season as the primary backup to starter Peyton Barber, but his 37 receptions and 302 receiving yards on the season both rank as his third-highest figures in those categories over his eight-year career.

Rodgers brought in his only target for one yard in the Buccaneers' 20-12 loss to the Ravens on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
One game after logging eight touches from scrimmage, Rodgers was back to minimal involvement. The Buccaneers opted to give Peyton Barber all of the running back carries Sunday, and the Buccaneers' second-half deficit also forced them to turn more towards the passing game as the contest wore on. Rodgers also has ceded kickoff return duties to Bobo Wilson the last pair of contests, leaving him with negligible fantasy value.

Rodgers rushed four times for 16 yards and brought in four of five targets for 38 yards in the Buccaneers' 28-14 loss to the Saints on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Despite fellow back Ronald Jones II also being active, Rodgers outpaced his rookie teammate by 27 snaps from scrimmage and saw eight touches to Jones' none. The versatile veteran continues to offer solid production when called upon, especially in the passing game. Rodgers now has equaled his highest reception total since the 2013 season, and he appears set to remain in his current complementary role for the remainder of the season, especially given the gulf between his production and that which Jones has been able to muster in his opportunities.

Rodgers rushed five times for 31 yards and brought in four of targets for 31 yards in the Buccaneers' 27-9 win over the 49ers on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Rookie Ronald Jones II (hamstring) was inactive once again, leaving Rodgers in the familiar role of primary backup to Peyton Barber. He was highly efficient on a per-touch basis, and the five carries he logged equaled a season high. Rodgers has been effective as a change-of-pace option over the last two games in particular (eight carries for 46 yards), lending credence to the notion he could stick in his current role and potentially keep Jones inactive in the process. However, the relatively sparse usage he sees limits his fantasy utility to only the deepest of formats.

Rodgers rushed three times for 15 yards and failed to come up with any of his three targets in the Buccaneers' 38-35 loss to the Giants on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Rodgers once again played a complementary role behind lead back Peyton Barber in the continued absence of Ronald Jones II (hamstring). One week after a career-high eight receptions, Rodgers failed to come up with any of his targets, lessening his already modest fantasy impact. Outside of his Week 10 outlier performance, Rodgers remains a middling fantasy option in all formats and could potentially revert to inactive status upon Jones' return to health.
