With safety Devin McCourty having agreed to a five-year, $48.7 million deal to remain with the Patriots, the team's focus in advance of free agency has turned to Revis' contract situation, the Boston Herald reports. Under his current deal with the Patriots, should the team pick up the cornerback's $12 million option bonus, Revis would count $25 million against the franchise's salary cap in 2015. With such a staggering monetary figure in play, more plausible scenarios involve the team either coming to terms with Revis on an extension, or releasing him, which would allow him to enter free agency. If the latter occurs, the Patriots would presumably have serious competition for Revis' services, with the Jets mentioned as one possible contender on that front.
