Wally's World - Week 9 fantasysharks.com Mon 10/27/14 9:06 AM

As the Saints put the finishing touches on the Packers weare down to one last game in Week 8. TheCowboys should put the week to rest by rolling over a Colt McCoy-led Washington offense. This week we saw two teams put up 50 points and numerousquarterbacks have outstanding days. Or, in BenRoethlisberger's case a career day. All-in-all a very exciting weekend of football with somelast minute heroics and gut-wrenching losses (I'm looking at you Atlanta). Here are some things that caught my eye this week This is the RonnieHillman that broke Marshall Faulk's recordsat San Diego State. The Montee Ball erawas fun while it lasted. OK. Actually, it really wasn't all that fun. I get the feeling that EricDecker is sitting somewhere watching the Broncos offense and saying, "Yeah, those were the days." Then he looks at his Jets team roster and sighs wistfully... The ‘other' BrandonMarshall continues to come up big for IDP owners. Keep riding this kid on aweekly basis. I like the way this CoreyFuller kid looks in the Lions offense. He has been a big part in pluggingthe huge hole left by Calvin Johnson's absence. Superb catch by TheoRiddick to help setup the game winning field goal. Looks like Detroit has the replacement for Reggie Bush securely in place. That is going to be one long flight home for Atlanta. At least folks that were forced to start Steven Jackson are happy. Or, as happyas people who were forced to start Jackson could be. Hey there RobertQuinn! Welcome to the 2014 fantasy football season. Better late than never. Let's stay in the IDP realm for a minute here as we like Akeem Ayers as a Patriot movingforward. He is a sneaky good edge rushing big-play option moving forward. So, we have to have seen the last of Geno Smith as the starter in New York. Haven't we? I'm guessing that owners who dropped Tom Brady are kicking themselves pretty hard these days.Repeatedly. So, we have a Denver at New England matchup this week, eh? This latest Manningvs. Brady is going to be fun and full of fantasy points. I'm guessing that Lovie Smith wished he'd taken one moreyear off right about now. Speaking of taking things off, there is no reason for Doug Martin to be on fantasy rostersanymore. He's ineffective and hurt again (ankle). Only dehydration could stop Rob Gronkowski this week. The Bears defense couldn't stop anything. I've come to realize that I can not predict what Ben Roethlisberger is going to do fromweek-to-week. I'm guessing Mike Tomlin has that same feeling quite a bit too. In true Brett Favre fashion, Kyle Orton has come out ofretirement and had one of his better seasons. I do miss the old bushy neckbeard though. I felt sad during Rex Ryan's post game press conference. Then I remembered some of the asinine things he's said in the past and got overit. The Jets should show some mercy and fire him now. We allknow it's coming. It was nice to see a big game from Larry Fitzgerald. I had a feeling he wasn't as done as some folks have madehim out to be. He still has some gas left in the tank. With rookies TeddyBridgewater and Jerick McKinnon bothhaving big roles in the offense, it is rookie OLB Anthony Barr that wins the game for the Vikings. That warms the cockles of this IDP lover's heart. Yes...I saidcockles. I'm not sure how long he'll be able to hold up to the NFLpounding, but after two big games I'm buying into Denard Robinson in Jacksonville. Now if only BlakeBortles could cut down on those pick-sixes. Wait... Cortez Allen justgot beat again. Sorry, couldn't resist. Arena league football had nothing on the Pittsburgh and Indianapolis game. It was a fantasy owners dream come true. Well, if you had Colts and Steelers it was. I'd say if youhappened to have faced a lot of Steelers and Colts...not so much. By the way...I sat BenRoethlisberger for Tony Romo inmy family league this week in a showdown against my lovely wife Jody. Karma? Remember when BrianHartline was a nice PPR player to have? Me either. The way I see it, the Raiders have one more chance at gettinga win this season. Week 13 they play at St Louis. What a week for rookie wide receivers as Donte Moncrief, John Brown, Brandin Cooks,Martavis Bryant, Sammy Watkins and AllenRobinson all scored touchdowns. Honestly, I may have missed one or two more, there were somany youngsters hitting pay dirt that my head was spinning. These will all beplayers that impact our fantasy playoffs. Please stay healthy ArianFoster because you are a joy to watch when playing at this level. Thatbeing said I will always worry about your hamstrings but that's my issue todeal with. The Zach Mettenberger era is off to a bit of a rocky start but he did enough good things to holdthe job for another few weeks. Tennessee will have the bye week to get the youngster moreacclimated to the pro game. A healthy KennyStills joining Brandin Cooks givesthe New Orleans offense a nice little lift. As in, they lift the top off the coverage with that deepspeed. It was a good night for former Alabama running backs as both Eddie Lacy and Mark Ingram racked up nice fantasy totals. Garbage time points were in full effect for Jay Cutler and Matt Forte this week. Hey, they still count so bring'em on. We have a HeathMiller sighting folks! When the quarterback throws for 522 yards there damnwell better be. Somewhere in Dallas JasonWitten sits with his fingers crossed and hopes he is going to have his‘Miller time' (see what I did there?) Johnathan Cyprien isgoing to put up very nice numbers for his IDP owners the rest of the season. Heis the main beneficiary of the season ending injury suffered by Paul Posluszny. I'm not going to lie to you. I expected a bit more from Tre Mason this week. This is a lost season for the Rams and why they are notusing the kid more is puzzling. Benny Cunningham and Zac Stacy are what they are andMason has easily shown the most explosiveness of the three. I'm just saying. Looks like CarsonPalmer is channeling his inner KurtWarner as the Cardinals continue to pull out big wins. It should be fun to see them head to the ‘Jerry Dome' nextweek.
