The Patriots selected Karras in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, 221st overall.
EDGE Analysis
New England has been intent on replenishing its interior depth on the offensive line in this draft after Denver landed 20 quarterback hits on Tom Brady in the AFC Championship. The Patriots added guard Joe Thuney out of North Carolina State and they went back to the well in the sixth round by scooping Karras out of Illinois. The 6-3, 307-pounder started all four years at right guard in Champaign. He'll likely be a depth option early in his career, but New England has a history of finding value along the offensive line late in drafts.
