The Panthers have rescinded the franchise tag they had placed on Norman, NFL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
As a result, the star cornerback becomes an unrestricted free agent, and based on a statement released by GM Dave Gettleman, it appears clear that the Panthers are indeed of a mind to move on from Norman. Per Gettleman: "After a number of conversations with Josh's agent we realized that a long-term deal was not attainable. We have decided to rescind the Franchise Tag freeing Josh to immediately become a UFA. We thank Josh for all his contributions and truly wish him well." The 28-year-old Norman is coming off a Pro Bowl season in 2015, in which he recorded 56 tackles, three forced fumbles and four picks in 16 games for the Panthers.
