The Chargers told Rivers that he would not be traded prior to the start of the NFL draft, and they are reportedly working on a contract extension for their star quarterback, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. In the end, all of the rumors about Rivers being shipped to Tennessee for the right to draft Marcus Mariota turned out to be much ado about nothing. While the teams did discuss the possibility of a trade, they were never close in terms of what each would require to get a deal done. Instead, the Bolts traded up for a top-shelf running back in Melvin Gordon, and that will more than likely make Rivers even more agreeable to a contract extension in San Diego.
