Spurlock will serve as the Bears' kick and punt returner to begin the season, Chicago Tribune reports. Spurlock didn't exactly make the Bears forget his predecessor, Devin Hester, after taking five punts for nine combined yards as well as kickoff returns of 18 and 19 yards during the preseason. As such, coach Marc Trestman intimated that Spurlock's hold on the jobs isn't secure, especially after fellow newcomer, Santonio Holmes, ripped off a 30-yard punt return in the fourth exhibition. Additionally, Rashad Ross resides on the practice squad as a specialist who produced kickoff returns of 22, 27, 37, and 42 in three preseason games with Washington. In any case, though, Spurlock holds down the Bears' return spots for now.
