Sims was released by the Rams on Thursday, Rich Hammond of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Rams shed a pair of veteran defensive ends Thursday by trading William Hayes and releasing Sims. According to Vincent Bonsignore of the Los Angeles Daily News, part of the reasoning behind those moves is that the Rams are switching from a 4-3 front to a 3-4 look under new defensive coordinator Wade Phillips. Sims played 535 defensive snaps in 2016 but only registered 2.5 sacks from the right defensive end spot.
