Saints head coach Sean Payton said he needs to get Spiller more touches, Mike Triplett of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Spiller has just four carries and three catches through two games, working behind Mark Ingram in an offense that also deploys Khiry Robinson at times. The Saints will likely try to get Spiller more touches, but Ingram has been surprisingly effective as a receiver, and the New Orleans offense as a whole has been highly disappointing. Pre-season expectations for Spiller should be adjusted, if they haven't been already.

Just so everyone knows, Spiller's getting paid as much money as Ingram, except his deal has more guaranteed money. Spiller was signed to be a big part of the passing-offense, which has been crap through three weeks without him. Obviously he needs touches.

The Saints are 0-3 and their offense has been impotent. During this pathetic interval, Spiller hasn't been utilized. Coincidence? I'm guessing no.

Spiller continues to disappoint season after season....

How about getting your stud RB more touches (Ingram), to wear down the opposing defense and keep your horrible one off the field?

That 'stud' RB has been part of an 0-3 offense, and he's averaging 3.3 YPC.

The Saints O is obviously missing a weapon or two, and more Ingram obviously isn't the answer.

One thing for sure they're missing is a playmaking backfield receiver in the Sproles/Pierre Thomas mold. That guy can, and should, be Spiller.

Cogwheel, I agree completely...you think this is the week he gets going?

They miss Graham in a bad way, I'm guessing spill gets more touches this wk to try and improve the offense. Productive or not he will see the ball.

@dlindley

I need to see it happen one week before I'll have confidence in the next.

Yeah its risky but so are all my options for flex this week... spiller, Dunbar, gurley and Matt jones. Ppr. Leaning spiller or Dunbar. Have kendall wright on bye, but would love gurley to take over that spot with the next couple weeks...

SandLlama Thu 10/1/15 7:41 PM

Dunbar is a solid choice. I drafted high in other spots and have Stewart and Spiller as my main backs. Spiller needs to get reps cus I don't see Stewart playing. Even if he did, he sucks. I'll use Dunbar over Stew.

Dunbar over Spiller for sure at this point.

Dunbar is more likely to get catches if Dallas has to play catch up and/or score quickly. Notice he had his slowest week against the Eagles, when Dallas held Philly to only 10 points.

If Dallas' D holds down the fort vs New Orleans' struggling O, then Dallas will probably prefer ball-control offense with Romo sidelined, which doesn't project to get Dunbar as many receptions.

That being said, I would also go Dunbar over Spiller. Dunbar has 21 receptions over three weeks, and that speaks for itself. Just saying that Dunbar might be game-flow dependent.
