Polamalu has decided to retire from the NFL after 12 seasons, the Herald-Standard reports. Polamalu has had a highly-decorated career for the Steelers, making eight Pro Bowls and earning four first-team All-Pro honors, playing in 158 games over the course of his career. In addition to that, he accumulated 710 tackles, 35 interceptions, 13 forced fumbles, seven fumble recoveries and won three Super Bowls. The Steelers will have a tough time replacing the veteran safety's presence and leadership defensively, but they will now have to do so.

Will miss him as a player on the field, signature plays for him were reading the snap count and jumping over the line of scrimmage, and I'll never forget the fingertip interception against San Diego in 2009. Great player, even greater human being on and off the field. Glad he was a Steeler for life, we'll see him in the HOF in 5 years, god bless ya Troy.

So true loved seeing him just fly over the center, It almost looked like he was gonna take the handoff rather than the RB

The steelers forced him into a corner, essentially the situation was leave or retire. He has lost a step but probably had 2-3 years left in the tank. He wanted to retire a steeler, see ya in the hall!
