Mathews signed a three-year contract with the Eagles on Thursday, ESPN's Adam Caplan reports. Mathews was left in limbo while the Eagles turned their attention to DeMarco Murray, but the team ultimately reached agreements with both veteran running backs. While there should be a lot of carries available in the Philadelphia offense, Murray figures to handle the lion's share of the workload, though there's obvious concern about how he'll hold up in the wake of a very busy 2014 season. With both Murray and Darren Sproles more adept than Mathews in the passing game, the former Charger will likely have some barren performances when the Eagles are forced to play from behind. On a more encouraging note, Mathews will be just one DeMarco Murray injury away from operating as the lead back in a fast-paced offense with a strong offensive line.
