Howell (neck) did not play in Saturday's preseason game, the Indianapolis Star reports. With Howell aggravating a neck injury that prematurely ended his season last year, starting strong safety job is now flux with Sergio Brown, Mike Adams and Colt Anderson also in competition for the assignment.
