Welcome to the Fantasy Sharks debut and Week 1 edition of Feast or Famine! Every week I will predict if certain players will produce above (Feast) or below (Famine) our player projections. A couple guys this week may be obvious, but some might surprise you.
FEAST
Eddie Lacy RB, Green Bay Packers
Projection: 3 Fantasy Points
Lacy will get a majority of the work this Sunday with only John Kuhn and Johnathan Franklin to compete with for the valuable carries. Lacy will be able to hold his own as DuJuan Harris managed 4.8 yards per carry in Green Bay's playoff loss to San Francisco.
Arian Foster RB, Houston Texans
Projection: 5 Fantasy Points
Houston had 508 rush attempts in 2012 which ranked 4th in the NFL. They are a run first team and Foster is their stud. I understand that Ben Tate will be in the mix and that Foster had some preseason injury concerns, but he will get enough touches to do his thing. San Diego is nothing special and will most likely be down early, which means even more running plays for Houston. Remember last year, when Houston was going to ease him back in after his hamstring injury? He put up 79 yards and two touchdowns against a decent Miami run defense.
Terrelle Pryor QB, Oakland Raiders
Projection: 11 Fantasy Points
A lot of people are talking about how terrible Oakland is on defense (offense too) and how Indianapolis is going to blow them out. That's all fine and probably true. However, people aren't talking about how bad Indianapolis is on defense or Pryor's ability to run! Two great components for fantasy production by a quarterback. For what its worth, Pryor had 299 all purpose yards and three touchdowns in his lone start last year.
Jordan Cameron TE, Cleveland Browns
Projection: 4 Fantasy Points
Cameron has been getting a lot of buzz this preseason, and rightfully so. Tight ends flourish under Cleveland's new head coach Rob Chudzinski and offensive coordinator Norv Turner. For example, look at what Kellen Winslow turned into during the 2007 season with Chudzinski. Cameron will see a lot of action this week with Josh Gordon out and he is the only real red zone threat in the passing game.
FAMINE
Doug Martin RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Projection: 18 Fantasy Points
Even though it is fun and easy to make fun of the New York Jets and Rex Ryan, you have to give them credit where credit is due - they play good defense. Martin is a stud but he will not be flying out of the gates this fantasy season. Rex Ryan likes to take away the main threat of an opposing offense and Martin is just that. Antonio Cromartie will be able to handle Vincent Jackson which should allow for more attention on Martin. You are definitely starting him, but temper expectations.
DeMarco Murray RB, Dallas Cowboys
Projection: 19 Fantasy Points
The offensive line in Dallas is, to put it lightly, not good. This game will be a high scoring shootout and Murray will need to be a contributor in the passing game (which he can be) if he wants to reward fantasy owners in week 1.
Julio Jones WR, Atlanta Falcons
Projection: 17 Fantasy Points
New Orleans gave up 7,042 yards in 2012. In other words, they were officially the worst defense of all time. Jones managed a combined stat line of 9/118/0 in the two games Atlanta faced New Orleans. The main weakness of New Orleans is their rush defense. Since Atlanta now has a NFL caliber running back in Steven Jackson, the Atlanta game plan will be tilted toward the run game.
Giovani Bernard RB, Cincinnati Bengals
Projection: 15 Fantasy Points
Three things: 1) Bernard is a rookie. 2) BenJarvus Green-Ellis is the starter 3) Chicago has a very good defensive line.
Welcome to the Fantasy Sharks debut and Week 1 edition of Feast or Famine! Every week I will predict if certain players will produce above (Feast) or below (Famine) our player projections.........
Hes sayin feast if he thinks theyll outperform what they project for the player and famine if they will get less than whats projected. Which is why his feast candidates are all relatively low projections n vice a versa.
Although, your below points would are WELL below. Not sure what your projections are, but for Julio and Martin to score 17 and 18 below projections is crazy. Am I not understanding?
yea hes saying they are projected to score what the number is given so feast if he thinks more than that number famine if he thinks less than that number but yea foster only 6 seems odd but never know i guess
Green ellis is gonna be boom or bust i think but could get a td which could save his day.. Its been said tate will share with foster tomorrow so u figure better matchup there. If ahead by a lot too theyll likely use Tate a little more than foster at end of game. Then again ive seen this before with foster few years ago n he got plenty of carries after missing a lot of preseason
Question / I'm thinking about dropping Sudfeld for Winslow looks like he's Geno Smith's safety valve. Anyone agree? Also how good can Brian Hartline be with Mike Wallace on board in Miami?
hartline is ppr gold in that offense. wallace is a deep play threat, two totally different wrs to compare but compliment each other nicely imo. the way miami seemed to run the ball yesterday id want to own hartline and even look at brandon gibson for a matchup play. But that being said wallace will definitely have games better than he did yesterday since he was covered by haden all game n shut down by him.
would rather have winslow, a) sudfeld hurt hamstring yesterday b) didnt play many snaps regardless c) gronk will be back soon d) i think brady will trust amendola, edelman, and gronk when back all over sudfeld and havent even mentioned if thompkins can come on at all. jets could be behind and with a lot of rookie qbs, when they discover a guy they like to throw to they keep doin it.
as for the writer of this article think he nailed each person all the feasts easily outperformed there projections peniodng foster(5 pts) tonight and the famines all underperformed there projections in standard scoring leagues
tough since they are both on the same team think andre roberst could get more catches and yds than floyd but floyd might get more tds... fitz is still the man palmer will target a lot but floyd is a very similar type of player to fitzgerald... prolly say roberts short term floyd long term depending upon scoring in your league and if its a keeper/dynasty or not
Arizona @ Detroit should be a shoot out. I have Floyd in two leagues and would start him with confidence. Tampa Bay hosting Drew Brees, so I would start Denver D with the quickness. Maybe David Wilson will fumble again and/or Eli will throw 3 picks again :)
Floyd, especially if PPR. BJGE playing Steelers. Pitt offense is bad but their run defense is solid. That game will be heavy on the defense and low on the touchdowns.

I think you got the points mixed between feast and famine.

Arian Foster getting 6 points - and this beating the projection - isn't a feast. That'd be pretty disappointing for Foster owners.
MichakavSat 9/7/13 7:24 PM
Reading is fundamental I guess. I did not read the beginning paragraph about the over/under.

Lacey will score X>5, Pryor X>11, Cameron X>4 on the feast side.
Martin X<18, Murray X<19, and Jones X<17 on the famine side.
That is what he is saying

Ghost_LombardiSun 9/8/13 8:14 PM
Hartline is a better receiver than Wallace in Miami's WC offense. Wallace is a burner, not a route runner.
Sudfeld...who knows. The question with Winslow is how long the knees hold up.

, Yeah, well, predicting Foster to get more than five points is like predicting that my wife will have a headache. Not exactly earth shattering.
