Carpenter put up six points in Sunday's win over Houston, going 1-for-2 on field goals and 3-for-4 on extra points. The missed field goal was a 50-yarder that would have given the Bills a lead that may have been tough for the Texans to overcome.
EDGE Analysis
A missed 50-yarder is forgivable, but Carpenter missed an extra point (he hit the left upright and it bounced out) that could have proved costly, the second week in a row he's missed one. He's also missed five of them on the season. His 16-for-20 mark on field goals is serviceable for a team that plays most of its games in an outdoor stadium, but Carpenter may be skating on thin ice with the misses in close games. Coach Rex Ryan was all over him during the preseason, then Carpenter quieted things down with a pretty decent run. It looks like Rex's blood pressure may be a little higher again when evaluating his kicker, so we'll see if the coach has anything to say about it this week.
