Brees (foot) is not expected to need surgery to repair the torn plantar fascia in his right heel, Mike Triplett of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brees visited with Dr. Robert Anderson, who recommended that the quarterback rest for four-to-six weeks before easing back into training activities. The foot injury didn't stop Brees from finishing the season on a high note, as he threw for 300+ yards (without any interceptions) in each of his final four games. There have been some reports suggesting that the Saints might move on if Brees won't take an outright pay cut for 2016, but it's hard to imagine that any team would actually be so foolish. If anything, Brees will likely be offered an extension that allows him to take home even more money in 2016 while also reducing his cap hit. He's still one of the top quarterbacks in the league, and his 2016 outlook is brightened by the emergence of Brandin Cooks and Willie Snead.
