According to Rand Getlin of NFL Network, Ingram is dealing with a potentially season-ending shoulder injury.
EDGE Analysis
In Week 10, Ingram was sidelined for a time after taking a hard hit, but the Saints' subsequent bye week didn't aid in shedding any light on the situation. Once the team kicked off preparation for Week 12, the running back was listed as a limited participant on both Nov. 25 and 26 with a shoulder issue. Although he's practiced in full in the interim, his usage has been scaled back somewhat over the last two games, as he's toted the rock 21 times for 108 yards, corralled 10 of 14 targets for 68 yards, and tallied a rushing touchdown. After making a four-year investment in Ingram in the offseason, the Saints would be warranted in shutting him down in the midst of a lost season, but that decision has yet to be made. If the Saints opt for the cautious approach, C.J. Spiller and Tim Hightower would be the beneficiaries.

Saints going into tank-mode and want to spare Ingram for the remainder of the season. He's been struggling with a hurting shoulder, but nothing to indicate an end of the season.

Solid timing, Mark

One would think Spiller but HIghtower was the player who actually came in immediately following the injury. That leads me to believe Hightower is the better gamble out of the two. I personally wouldn't drop anyone worth a darn to pick either up. There are only 4 games remaining and it may take a couple weeks just to figure out which one will be the top dog and even so will they get enough work to make it worth a start? A high risk low-med reward if you asked me.
