Whalen was released by the Ravens on Friday, ESPN's Jamison Hensley reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the roster cutdown deadline looming for Saturday, the Ravens began trimming their roster following their final preseason game. Whalen, who signed before training camp to compete for a role in the return game, had a minimal impact during the preseason. He hauled in one reception for five yards in his final tuneup Thursday against the Saints. Still, Whalen is just 27 years old and could have some utility on a team looking to bolster its special teams units.

Whalen signed with the Ravens on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Whalen joins Baltimore the same day news that fellow Ravens wideout Michael Campanaro (toe) will begin training camp on the PUP list. In eight games for the Chargers last season, Whalen caught two passes for 22 yards.

Whalen is expected to sign with the Ravens, Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Whalen's deal in Baltimore is subject to him passing a physical. The shifty wideout has spent time with the Colts, Chargers and Patriots since entering the league in 2012. Although he caught just two passes for 22 yards in eight games last year, the Ravens' recent history of being thin at receiver gives him a decent shot of making their roster.

The Patriots have waived Whalen, ESPN's Mike Reiss reports.
EDGE Analysis
Whalen's short stint with the Patriots ended Thursday, with the Patriots needing to make room for the team's waiver claim of fellow wideout Michael Floyd.

The Patriots have signed Whalen, ESPN's Mike Reiss reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Danny Amendola dealing with an ankle issue that will probably cost him some time, Whalen gives the Patriots some needed wideout depth heading into the stretch run. Out of the gate, however, Whalen is no higher than No. 4 in the team's fantasy pecking order at the position.

Whalen was waived by the Chargers on Tuesday, Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Chargers parted ways with Whalen after signing former Vikings running back Ronnie Hillman. In eight games this season, the wideout recorded two receptions for 22 yards while playing mostly on special teams. He'll now look to sign on with a team in need of wide receiver depth.

Whalen signed a contract with the Chargers on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
The Chargers had a roster opening with Danny Woodhead (knee) being placed on injured reserve, so they opted to bring in another receiving threat in Whalen, who brings some much-needed depth to an injury riddled position. With Travis Benjamin, Dontrelle Inman and Tyrell Williams atop the depth chart, look for Whalen to battle Isaiah Burse for any remaining targets in the passing game.

Whalen was released by the Dolphins on Sunday, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Whalen appeared to have made the Dolphins' 53-man roster following Saturday's final roster cuts. However, the Dolphins went on to claim former Titans' wide receiver Justin Hunter off waivers on Sunday, so they needed to clear a roster spot, hence Walen's release. He'll head to the open free agent market and could field some interest elsewhere from receiver-needy teams.

Whalen recorded two receptions for 27 yards in Thursday's preseason win over the Falcons.
EDGE Analysis
Whalen took the field for the first time this preseason and was the Dolphins' third-leading wideout on Thursday night. The Dolphins have their top three receivers in place in Jarvis Landry, DeVante Parker, and Kenny Stills, leaving Whalen to compete for the No. 4 spot with rookie Leonte Carroo.

Whalen has signed with the Dolphins.
EDGE Analysis
Whalen arrives in Miami after finishing last season with 19 catches for 205 yards and one touchdown in 14 games played. Waived by the Colts in January, Whalen adds depth to the Dolphins' options at wide receiver and on special teams.
