Jackson got only four touches in a win Sunday against the Bears as third-stringer Thomas Rawls replaced an injured Marshawn Lynch and rushed for 104 yards.
EDGE Analysis
It was a bit surprising Jackson didn't get more action with Lynch out. He finished with two rushes for 13 yards and two catches for nine yards. Rawls impressed and likely did enough to be the workhorse next week if Lynch is out or limited.

Jackson totaled 29 yards on four touches Sunday in Seattle's season-opening loss at the Rams.
EDGE Analysis
Don't expect much more than that from Jackson, who won't see much action beyond providing Marshawn Lynch a rest now and then.

With Robert Turbin on IR and Christine Michael having been traded to Dallas, Jackson and Thomas Rawls now slot in behind Seattle's starting RB Marshawn Lynch, ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
In addition to providing the team with valuable experience and insurance behind Lynch, look for Jackson to also factor in some in a complementary role for the Seahawks, especially on third downs, given his ability as a pass-catcher/protector.

Jackson has signed a one-year deal with the Seahawks, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Robert Turbin continuing dealing with a high ankle sprain, Jackson appears in line to step into a backup role in the Seattle backfield behind Marshawn Lynch and ahead of Christine Michael. While Jackson is zero threat to challenge Lynch's position atop the Seattle RB depth chart, his new assignment puts him an injury away from fantasy relevance and makes him a worthy late-round target for those looking insure Lynch.

Jackson left Seattle without a contract, but the Seahawks are still interested in signing him, ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jackson's contract will be guaranteed if he signs before the first game, so the Seahawks may just ride with Christine Michael and Thomas Rawls as the Week 1 backups, then make an effort to sign Jackson. Of course, another team could make a move for the veteran in the meantime, so it shouldn't be assumed that Jackson will land in Seattle. According to Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News, the Ravens also expressed interest in signing Jackson.

Jackson hasn't signed with the Seahawks yet because the cap-strapped team wants to resolve Kam Chancellor's holdout first, according to Bleacher Report's Jason Cole.
EDGE Analysis
It could be the Seahawks need to figure out Chancellor's contract so they know how much they can offer Jackson, but more likely, as the report also acknowledges, the team would rather wait to sign him after Week 1 so his contract is not guaranteed for the whole year. With Robert Turbin out for a few weeks with a high ankle sprain, Jackson would step into backup role behind Marshawn Lynch.

Jackson, who was released by the Bills on Monday, is expected to sign with the Seahawks, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's unclear why exactly the Seahawks would be interested in the 34-year-old Jackson, though he's the type of player on whom the team often likes to kick the tires. Robert Turbin is a decent backup to Marshawn Lynch and usually plays in the two-minute offense, but that role is in jeopardy if Jackson signs. Do the Seahawks think a seemingly washed up Jackson would be better than Turbin? Third-stringer Christine Michael, a 2013 second-round pick, won't make the team if Jackson signs.

Jackson was released by the Bills on Monday, Vic Carucci of The Buffalo News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jackson has been a long-term member of the Bills' backfield, but with both Bryce Brown and Anthony Dixon available, he's now been cut loose. The veteran running back has shown the ability to produce on a yearly basis in a limited role. While it's no guarantee, it seems likely Jackson will find work elsewhere as a secondary back. With him out of the picture in Buffalo, Antonio Dixon, Bryce Brown and Karlos Williams stand increased chances of earning both a roster position and some playing time behind LeSean McCoy.

Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson suffered a hamstring injury during Friday's practice. Jackson could miss a significant portion of training camp due to the hamstring strain, but the 34-year-old was already expected to have a reduced role this season following the acquisition of running back LeSean McCoy.

Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson is expected to make the final roster, according to ESPN.com. The Bills acquired running back LeSean McCoy during the offseason, but the 34-year-old Jackson is expected to remain with the team for at least one more season in a backup capacity. When healthy, Jackson split time with C.J. Spiller in the backfield over the last several seasons, but Spiller departed for the New Orleans Saints in the offseason. With McCoy expected to take over the vast majority of the carries, Jackson is highly unlikely to enjoy the same quantity of touches he has seen throughout his career. Last season, he rushed 141 times for 525 yards -- a career-low 3.7 yards per carry -- while catching 66 passes for 501 yards and scoring three total touchdowns. He will return for another season as the NFL's oldest active running back.
