Nelson was released by the Steelers on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of The Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran wideout finished the season on IR and did not play a single snap for the Steelers prior to his release. It's unclear at this point if a team will take a flier on the oft-injured Nelson given that he's played in all of 18 games over the past three seasons, but his 6-foot-5 frame could be intriguing enough for a team to give him a shot in training camp.

Nelson (ankle) will be released by the Jets to clear space on the roster for Percy Harvin, J.P. Pelzman of The Bergen Record reports. As a sparingly used depth option for the Jets, Nelson was expendable with the addition of Harvin. It's possible that the veteran will land an opportunity elsewhere as an audition for a job in 2015 during the second half of the season.

Nelson (ankle) is listed as active for Thursday's game against the Patriots. With seven catches for 54 yards to his credit through five contests, Nelson is only an option in the deepest of fantasy formats.

Nelson (ankle) is listed as probable for Thursday's game against the Patriots, the Jets' official site reports. Nelson should be available for Thursday's contest, though after being inactive this past Sunday, he's not a high-percentage play this week, with a modest total of seven catches for 54 yards to his credit through five contests.

Nelson (ankle) is taking part in positional drills during Tuesday's practice, ESPN New York reports. Nelson was inactive over the weekend, as his severe ankle sprain from Week 4 continued to linger. That being said, it's encouraging to hear that Nelson is participating in portions of Tuesday's practice. Last weekend's rest could allow Nelson to be ready for this Thursday's game versus the Patriots, but the wideout's status will have to be monitored as kickoff approaches.

Nelson (ankle) is listed as inactive for Sunday's game versus the Broncos. Nelson was limited in practice this week and apparently won't be able to overcome his ankle injury to play Sunday. As a result, Eric Decker (hamstring) should see an even larger portion of targets against his former team once Sunday's contest kicks off.

Nelson (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Broncos, the Jets' official site reports. As is fellow wideout Eric Decker, though Nelson isn't a high-percentage play this week in any case, given the state of the Jets' offense.

Nelson (ankle) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday, the Jets' official site reports. With fellow wideout Eric Decker trending in the right direction, Nelson is only an option in the deepest of formats, given the state of the Jets' passing game.

Nelson had one catch for nine yards in Sunday's loss at San Diego. A nothing showing in a blowout loss, though no one on the Jets offense played well in this one. Nonetheless, it's discouraging to see Nelson doing so little on a day where Eric Decker didn't play.

Nelson (ankle) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Chargers. With Eric Decker inactive Sunday, look for Jeremy Kerley to be busy Sunday, while Nelson is a candidate to see added Week 5 opportunities along with Greg Salas, provided his ankle holds up.
