Broncos general manager John Elway was noncommittal when asked if Anderson would return to Denver in 2018, Nicki Jhabvala of The Denver Post reports. "I'm not saying [Anderson will] be back for sure, but I'm not going to say [he's] gone," Elway said.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson was one of the few bright spots for the 4-12 Broncos last season, finishing with a career-best 1,007 rushing yards and recording four touchdowns over 16 games. Despite Anderson's improved health and quality production, the Denver offense was still a disaster due to poor play at quarterback, a position the team plans to upgrade this offseason, likely through free agency. In order to free up the money necessary to make a serious run at one of the top quarterbacks on the market, the Broncos may opt to release Anderson, who carries cap hits of $4.5 million for the next two seasons. While those figures aren't totally unreasonable for Anderson, the team has younger, cheaper backup options on hand in the form Devontae Booker and De'Angelo Henderson, both of whom might be able to handle larger roles in 2018 without the Broncos losing much effectiveness on the ground.

Anderson finished the season with 1,007 yards and three touchdowns on 245 carries and 28 catches for 224 yards and a touchdown during the 2017 season. He lost one fumble on the year.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson set career highs in touches and yards in 2017, a product of finally managing to avoid nagging injuries through an entire season. Head coach Vance Joseph has complimented Anderson's endurance and the shape he has been in all season and prioritized getting Anderson to his first 1,000-yard rushing season during the closing weeks of 2017. Anderson did well to bounce back from an injury-shortened 2016 and was often the most dependable weapon in a dull Denver attack. Still, it's more likely than not that Anderson's 1,000-yard campaign will be used to audition for another team. Anderson is owed $4.5 million next season and Denver does not owe him anything if he's cut. With a new position coach and young, up-and-coming potential replacements in Devontae Booker and De'Angelo Henderson, the Broncos can probably find a more effective way to spend that $4.5 million.

Anderson ran for 61 yards on 18 carries during Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Chiefs.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson's yardage brought him to 1,007 on the year - his first 1,000-yard season. After he reached the total, Denver sat Anderson to get a look at Devontae Booker and De'Angelo Henderson. The move might have been more than symbolic. The Broncos can either pay Anderson $4.5 million next year or let him walk with no cap penalty. With two promising young backs and plenty of holes to fill, Anderson likely carried the ball for the last time in orange.

Anderson pounded the ball for 88 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries and added 45 yards on seven catches during Sunday's 27-11 loss in Washington. He added a two-point conversion during the contest.
EDGE Analysis
The game was all but over when Anderson took an inside run into the end zone for a five-yard touchdown in the game's closing moments. Little has gone right for Denver offensively this year, but Anderson has put together his best overall season and is heating up late. Anderson has now topped 100 total yards in three of his last four games. He's 54 rushing yards shy of his first career 1,000-yard season. He's a fair bet to reach that mark with his lone remaining game coming against a Kansas City squad that let him pick up 78 yards on 15 carries in Week 8.

Anderson rushed 30 times for 158 yards and failed to bring in his only target in Thursday's 25-13 win over the Colts.
EDGE Analysis
The 26-year-old saw almost three times the rushing touches of backfield mate Devontae Booker, reconfirming his status as the clear-cut lead back. Anderson's rushing yardage was easily his highest of the season, and he's now logged 52 rushes overall in the last pair of contests. He'll look to continue parlaying his robust volume into strong production when he faces the Redskins in a Week 16 road tilt.

Anderson carried the ball 22 times for 48 yards and caught both passes directed his way for 25 more yards in Sunday's 23-0 win over the Jets.
EDGE Analysis
That many carries in a blowout victory might have deked Anderson's fantasy owners into thinking he'd had a big day, but he was only able to manage 2.2 YPC. On the plus side, Devontae Booker had a similarly poor day with just 22 yards on nine carries. Meanwhile, the 26-year-old touched the ball more than he had since Week 4 and probably will retain the feature-back role heading into a favorable Week 15 matchup with Indianapolis.

Anderson rushed 15 times for 67 yards and brought in four of seven targets for 43 yards in Sunday's 35-9 loss to the Dolphins.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson was perhaps the lone bright spot for the Broncos in the dismal loss, posting his best rushing yardage total since Week 8 against the Chiefs. The 26-year-old also equaled the 15 carries he'd seen in that game, while his 43 receiving yards were a season high. Anderson appeared to be on the verge of losing his lead-back role to Devontae Booker after the latter out-touched him on the ground in Week 11, but Sunday's 15-2 advantage for Anderson in carries hints at a significant shift. The fifth-year veteran will look to build on Sunday's effort against the Jets in a Week 14 home matchup.

Anderson ran for 12 yards on five carries during Sunday's 21-14 loss to Oakland.
EDGE Analysis
The five touches were by far a season low for Anderson. There may be further depths for Anderson to explore. Sunday's loss effectively knocked Denver out of contention and December will be all about trying to figure out what the team has going into 2018. To that end, Devontae Booker is far more likely to be on the team next season than Anderson. The transition seems to be starting as Booker saw 26 offensive snaps to Anderson's 19 on Sunday.

Anderson carried 13 times for 37 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Bengals. He also caught two of three targets for 19 yards.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson scored on a three-yard touchdown plunge in the first quarter, but he couldn't get much going after that and finished with a sub-par 2.8 yards per carry. He watched as Devontae Booker piled up 98 scrimmage yards on 19 touches of his own, leading the team in both categories. With the team on a six-game losing streak since the bye and Brock Osweiler struggling under center, both Anderson and Booker could see similar workloads moving forward, though it's difficult to predict who will have the greater impact next week against the Raiders.

Anderson rushed for 54 yards on 10 carries and added a one-yard catch in Sunday's 41-16 loss to New England.
EDGE Analysis
It was Anderson's fourth game in five outings with fewer than 12 touches after starting the season with at least 20 touches in three of four games. The Broncos were at there best this season when Anderson served as the team's bellcow. Looking for a spark, the coaching staff has split touches between Anderson, Jamaal Charles, and Devontae Booker. Head coach Vance Joseph said that it will be hard to ride any one back until Denver's offense gains some consistency. It looks like we're pretty far off from there at this point.
