Chad Greenway confirmed he's moving to weak-side linebacker. Greenway played "SAM" linebacker last year, but should get the majority of his snaps at the "WILL" spot this season. He's also seen time at middle linebacker during OTAs and could be moved inside in certain packages. Greenway and Anthony Barr are locked in as starters in Mike Zimmer's defense, with Gerald Hodges, Audie Cole, and Jasper Brinkley competing for the final linebacker spot.

WLB Chad Greenway has agreed to reduce his base salary from $6.5 million to a fully guaranteed $5.5 million. Greenway is coming off of a horrific season where he graded out 34th among 35 qualifiers in Pro Football Focus' 4-3 outside linebacker ratings. He has been solid through out his career, though, and should offer a veteran presence for a defense in transition. Greenway 2015 salary remains the same, meaning the Vikings could save $7.1 million by cutting Greenway after 2014.

Vikings WLB Chad Greenway is owed $6.5 million in salary and bonuses in 2014. His base salary is $6.4 million with a $100,000 offseason workout bonus. Turning 31 later this month, Greenway is coming off of a horrific season where he graded out 34th among 35 qualifiers in Pro Football Focus' 4-3 outside linebacker ratings. Only Miami's Philip Wheeler was worse. We suspect the Vikings will keep Greenway for 2014, but it's hardly a guarantee. Minnesota may undergo a rebuilding process this spring after ranking 31st in total defense.

The arthroscopic knee surgery Chad Greenway underwent last week was on his left meniscus. Greenway had some "residual fraying" of his meniscus. It may have been related to his 2006 ACL tear in the same knee. Regardless, he's in no danger of missing Week 1 and fully expects to be ready for the start of camp. "There will be no doubt in my mind unless I get in a car accident or something," said Greenway. "From the knee perspective, it'll be 100 percent, good to go."

Vikings SLB Chad Greenway (knee) underwent surgery on Wednesday to clean out debris in his knee. Coach Leslie Frazier deemed the surgery as minor, and added there are "no worries," that Greenway will be ready for camp. Greenway hasn't missed a game since becoming a starter in 2007, and will be 100 percent entering the season.

Vikings SLB Chad Greenway will have his knee scoped on Wednesday, but is expected to be "fine" for training camp. An MRI revealed some things that "needed to (be cleaned) up," but nothing serious. Greenway hasn't missed a game since becoming a starter in 2007, so there's every reason to believe he'll be ready to go for camp. Greenway graded out as the No. 21 4-3 outside linebacker in Pro Football Focus' ratings last season.

Vikings LB Chad Greenway will be in attendance when minicamp begins on Tuesday. Greenway missed a handful of OTA sessions to be with his ailing father in South Dakota, but is expected to arrive in Winter Park tomorrow. The Vikings signed Greenway to a five-year, $41 million extension last September.

Vikings signed SLB Chad Greenway to a multi-year contract extension. Greenway was previously under contract through 2011 on a $10.091 million franchise tender. Though he's yet to make a Pro Bowl, the 28-year-old is one of the stoutest and best all-around 4-3 linebackers in football. Pro Football Focus graded Greenway as the fifth best player in the league at the position last season. Also an IDP stud, he's averaging 116 tackles a year over the past four seasons. The Vikings confirmed their high opinion of Greenway by franchising him over both Sidney Rice and Ray Edwards during the winter.

Vikings beat writer Judd Zulgad suggests SLB Chad Greenway is more likely than RB Adrian Peterson to be signed to a long-term deal before the season. That's not to say that Peterson won't get extended, just that Greenway - a player who was reportedly interested in discussing a deal as of last month - is more likely to get his done first. Greenway is set to make $10.091 million in 2011 as the Vikings' franchise player. Peterson will bring home $10.72 million in 2011 and will hit free agency after the season if he can't work out a new contract.
