The New York Daily News reports the Jets' interest in free agent Brandon Gibson is "serious." Gang Green is the buzzed-about Gibson's first serious suitor, at least publicly. He'd provide a jolt of experience and production to a receiver corps lacking both, but is an obvious candidate to get overpaid. The Jets don't have much money to throw around, so they could be out if a bidding war comes about.

A source tells the New York Post that the Jets have interest in free agent WR Brandon Gibson. For a former sixth-round pick with a career-high of 691 yards, Gibson has generated a ton of buzz over the last week. It's unclear if the cap-strapped Jets can even afford his potential pricetag. Perhaps the Jets' miserable pass-catching situation would appeal to Gibson as he'd have a good shot at stepping in as the No. 2 wideout.

USA Today confirms the Dolphins have contacted free agent Brandon Gibson, but that he's only seen as a "fallback option" in case they fail to land Mike Wallace. Since the "league-wide expectation" is that the Dolphins will sign Wallace, the odds are low Gibson will be joining Brian Hartline in Miami. Gibson has yet to be connected to other teams, but will be soon enough. He's as good as gone from St. Louis.

The Detroit Free Press hints the Lions will check in on second-tier free agent receivers like Brandon Gibson and Domenik Hixon. With Nate Burleson in steady decline and Ryan Broyles recovering from another ACL tear, the Lions have a major need opposite Calvin Johnson. Greg Jennings would be a strong fit, but is likely too pricey. Gibson could make an impact as a chain-mover in the Lions' high-octane offense, but his reported demands (between $5-$6 million) will probably price him out of the Lions' range. Steve Breaston, Ramses Barden and Jerome Simpson are other possibilities.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the Rams and free agent Brandon Gibson will part ways. Gibson is "looking for a fresh start." The Rams were interested in re-signing Gibson, but there was no chance he was going to get the same kind of money from them that he's set to earn on a weak free-agent receiver market. "Indications are" that Gibson will have a chance for a No. 2 role somewhere. The Miami Herald has reported that the Dolphins are "serious" on Gibson, and he could be seeking $6 million annually.

The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins contacted free agent WR Brandon Gibson on Saturday. The real juice to the story is that "some believe that Gibson could earn a contract comparable to the one given to Brian Hartline" last week -- five years and $31 million with $12.5 million guaranteed. Gibson would likely be a fallback option if the Dolphins can't land Mike Wallace. Miami is also said to be interested in free agent Wes Welker.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch says there is a "fair amount of interest" in free agent Brandon Gibson around the league. Beat writer Jim Thomas even says Gibson could land a No. 2 or No. 3 role on a receiver-needy team. The Rams have shown "some interest" in re-signing Gibson, but he wouldn't be any higher than fourth or fifth on the depth chart. Gibson is prone to the occasional knucklehead play, but he's shown consistent hands as a chain-mover and red-zone option.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, free agent Brandon Gibson "doesn't appear likely" to return to the Rams. The statement contradicts an early-February Rams website item calling Gibson St. Louis' free agent "most likely to (be) retain(ed)." Gibson had a couple of nice box-score games in 2012, but has been part of the problem and not the solution for the Rams' wideout corps. He's a No. 4 on a team with good receivers.

According to StLouisRams.com, Brandon Gibson is among the free agents St. Louis is "most likely to retain." Gibson has been maddeningly inconsistent across his first four NFL seasons, but put together the best four-game stretch of his career between Weeks 14 and 17, catching 17 passes for 254 yards. His 691 yards and five touchdowns on the season were both new career highs. Not a candidate for the franchise tag, Gibson will hit the open market, but the receiver-starved Rams figure to make a known commodity a competitive offer.
