Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said Monday that Gabbert would remain the team's starting quarterback for its Week 13 matchup with the Rams, Mike Jurecki of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM reports.
EDGE Analysis
The decision to hand Gabbert his third consecutive start likely wasn't too difficult after the 2011 first-round pick led the Cardinals to an upset victory Sunday over the Jaguars, the team that drafted him with the 10th overall pick. Gabbert was a little loose with the football (one interception, two fumbles) against a tough defense, but completed 22 of 38 passes for 241 yards and two scores while advancing far enough on the Cardinals' final drive for Phil Dawson to kick a game-winning, 57-yard field goal. Gabbert still projects as a lower-tier fantasy quarterback, but unless his turnover issues put the team in a bigger hole against Los Angeles, he'll likely continue starting over Drew Stanton.

Gabbert completed 22 of 38 passes for 241 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, adding six carries for 17 yards in Sunday's 27-24 win over the Jaguars.
EDGE Analysis
Gabbert avoided sacks and turnovers all game until the Jags came through with a strip-sack for a touchdown to take a 17-16 lead early in the fourth quarter. Gabbert immediately bounced back with a pair of first downs on the ground, followed by a 52-yard touchdown pass to a wide-open Jaron Brown and a two-point conversion to Larry Fitzgerald. The 28-year-old QB tossed a pick on the next drive, but Blake Bortles returned the favor and the Cardinals ultimately ended up winning on Phil Dawson's 57-yard field goal. Despite his crucial late-game mistakes, Gabbert probably did enough to keep the starting job for Week 13 against the Rams, having led the Cardinals to victory against what's arguably the best defense in the league.

Gabbert will get another start Week 12 against the Jaguars, Kyle Odegard of the Cardinals' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cardinals coach Bruce Arians did leave the door open to switch back to Stanton in Week 13, saying that the veteran quarterback's sprained knee was a factor in the decision. Given that Stanton was available as the backup in Sunday's 31-21 loss to Houston, it would seem the Cardinals' desire to evaluate Gabbert is the larger factor. Sitting at 4-6 in a tough conference, Arizona probably needs to win out to have a shot at the playoffs. Picking up a win against a Jacksonville team with a dominant pass defense will be a tough enough task on its own.

Cardinals general manager Steve Keim sounded like he wants to see Gabbert get another start, according to Darren Urban of the team's official website.
EDGE Analysis
Keim didn't actually provide anything concrete, other than saying that head coach Bruce Arians will make the final decision on whether Gabbert or Drew Stanton (knee) gets the start in Week 12 against the Jaguars. Common sense dictates it will be Gabbert, who completed 22 of 34 passes for 257 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's 31-21 road loss to Houston. The defeat essentially crushed any hopes for a playoff appearance, and Cardinals brass previously had hinted that Gabbert could be the long-term replacement for Carson Palmer (arm). Regardless of which quarterback gets the starting nod, Arizona's offense doesn't figure to have much success in a brutal matchup with the red-hot Jaguars.

Gabbert completed 22 of 34 passes for 257 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's 31-21 loss to Houston. He added 13 yards rushing on three carries.
EDGE Analysis
After a quiet first quarter, Gabbert couldn't have looked much better in the middle of the game, connecting with Larry Fitzgerald on a 20-yard back-shoulder touchdown and then a pair of scores to Ricky Seals-Jones. He fell apart late while trying to lead an Arizona comeback, tossing a pair of picks in the game's final seven minutes. Even with a rough ending, however, Gabbert showed the ability to at least keep Arizona's offense moving with Carson Palmer and Drew Stanton both down.

Gabbert will start Sunday's game in Houston, Kyle Odegard of the Cardinals' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Drew Stanton seems to be recovering from a knee sprain quicker than originally expected, but the Cardinals still plan on starting Gabbert against a struggling Houston defense. It's not entirely clear how much of the decision is based on Stanton's health and how much is due to the team's desire to evaluate Gabbert in a game situation. Per ESPN.com's Josh Weinfuss, Cardinals offensive coordinator Harold Goodwin suggest Friday that Gabbert could be the team's quarterback of the future. Goodwin is probably getting a bit ahead of himself, but Gabbert does at least have a nice opportunity to earn a second start, facing a Houston defense that's allowed three straight quarterbacks to go over 300 yards with multiple touchdowns.

Gabbert handled most of the reps with the first-team offense at Wednesday's practice, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gabbert's standing has been elevated due to injuries to Arizona's top two signal callers. With Carson Palmer (arm) on IR, Drew Stanton has started back-to-back games, but last Thursday against the Seahawks, he sustained a sprained knee. Stanton is progressing through the ailment, practicing on a limited basis Wednesday, but the Cardinals seem to be preparing for the prospect of Gabbert under center this Sunday at Houston. Expect a decision to be made by the end of the week.

Gabbert is expected to be named the starting quarterback for Sunday's game against the Texans, sources informed Mike Jurecki of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Cardinals are expected to make the announcement official prior to their first practice of the week Wednesday, but with Drew Stanton (knee) looking unlikely to be available in Week 11, Gabbert appears poised to become the third signal caller to start a game for Arizona this season. In anticipation of Stanton's absence, the team signed Matt Barkley on Monday to serve as Gabbert's backup Sunday. Stanton had been a capable replacement while starting the last two games in place of the injured Carson Palmer (arm), and since his Stanton's sprained knee isn't believed to be a significant injury, Gabbert's run as starter could be short lived. Gabbert, who signed a one-year contract with the Cardinals in May, completed 57 percent of his passes while tossing five touchdowns against six interceptions over six games as a member of the 49ers in 2016.

Gabbert could get a rare start under center in the Cardinals' Week 11 matchup against the Texans, as replacement starer Drew Stanton is nursing a sprained knee, Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Stanton reportedly suffered the injury in Thursday's loss to the Cardinals. Gabbert has not started a game since Week 5 of the 2016 season for the 49ers. It remains to be seen how serious Stanton's injury is, but the practice reps next week should indicate the likelihood of Gabbert actually drawing the start. The team is expected to bring back Matt Barkley for insurance.

Gabbert will serve as the Cardinals' backup quarterback with Carson Palmer (arm) ruled out at least eight weeks, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Despite Gabbert boasting more experience as a starting quarterback over the course of his NFL career, the Cardinals will move forward with long-time backup Drew Stanton in Palmer's absence. Gabbert last started the first five games of the season for the 49ers last year and threw five touchdowns and six interceptions before being benched.
