Sankey (knee) is an unrestricted free agent after the Vikings declined to offer him a tender, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sankey was set to be a restricted free agent, but the Vikings opted to let him hit free agency coming off surgery to repair a torn ACL last August. The 25-year-old hasn't played an NFL snap over the past two seasons and has a lot to prove if he is to earn a roster spot in 2018.

Sankey underwent surgery on his torn ACL last week and has begun rehab, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sankey was waived and reverted to injured reserve following the tearing of his right ACL in the Vikings' preseason opener. With rehab already beginning, Sankey should be able to recover in time for the start of the 2018 season, but a serious injury like this could put his future in the NFL in serious jeopardy.

Sankey (knee) cleared waivers and reverted to injured reserve, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sankey tore his right ACL in the Vikings' preseason opener and was waived two days later. Fortunately, he should have plenty of time to recover in time for the 2018 campaign. Second-year running back Bronson Hill was signed to take his place on the roster.

Sankey (knee) was waived-injured by the Vikings on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Sankey will presumably clear waivers and revert to the Vikings' injured reserve. The team picked up running back Bronson Hill in a corresponding move.

Sankey sustained a torn ACL during Thursday's preseason win at Buffalo, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Vikings held out Latavius Murray and Jerick McKinnon on Thursday, providing Sankey with a window in which to impress the coaching staff. Sankey received four carries for 14 yards and gathered in four of five targets for 15 yards before suffering a knee injury, which has been revealed to be season-ending. Injured reserve is almost certainly in the 2014 second-round pick's future.

Sankey (knee) was seen on crutches after Thursday's preseason game and will be sent for an MRI on Friday, Andrew Krammer of The Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sankey got into the mix Thursday with Latavius Murray and Jerick McKinnon sitting out, but he only saw four carries before suffering the knee injury. He had a brace on his knee in addition to being on crutches in the Minnesota locker room following Thursday's tilt. Friday's MRI should shed some more light on the exact nature of Sankey's knee injury.

Sankey (knee) is out for the remainder of Thursday's game in Miami.
EDGE Analysis
Sankey worked in as the backup running back for parts of camp since Latavius Murray and Jerick McKinnon have both been battling injuries. Sankey's working with the disadvantage that he hasn't played since 2015, a season where he was able to record two touchdowns -- one rushing and one receiving. It's likely he stays on with the Vikings if he's healthy, but his regular season time is mainly dependent on injuries.

Sankey has been working as the backup running back to Dalvin Cook in training camp with both Latavius Murray and Jerick McKinnon hurt, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sankey could make the final 53-man roster if C.J. Ham is moved to fullback or if Latavius Murray misses games while returning from offseason ankle surgery. Sankey would likely need several injuries before he'd see meaningful regular season action, however.

Sankey signed with the Vikings' practice squad Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Sankey spent the summer with the Titans and has since made stops in both New England and Kansas City. If something were to happen to Jerick McKinnon or Matt Asiata, expect the former second-rounder to receive a call from Vikings brass.

The Chiefs released Sankey on Tuesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Inked by the Chiefs on Nov. 1, Sankey was noted on the inactive list in three consecutive games before his release. The move comes on the heels of Charcandrick West suffering a concussion Sunday, so an addition to the backfield could be in the works. If not, head coach Andy Reed may just roll with Spencer Ware this Sunday in Denver, with Knile Davis the sole RB in reserve if West is sidelined.
