Multiple league sources tell ESPN 1500 Twin Cities that the Vikings have had discussions with free agent Antoine Winfield about a reunion. Coach Leslie Frazier also confirmed late Sunday that he's been in contact with Winfield since his March 12 release. "I'm hoping that we can figure out a way to get him back here," Frazier said. "So, I'm hoping that it's not goodbye yet." Per beat writer Tom Pelissero, Winfield "apparently is willing to listen." In the meantime, Winfield has set up "multiple visits" with other NFL teams.

Free agent CB Antoine Winfield will begin visiting teams next week. Winfield, who took time to "decompress" after his shocking March 12 release, has received interest from "several teams." Though Winfield is going on age 36, he remains perhaps the league's premier slot corner. Playoff-caliber teams like Seattle, Washington, and Chicago could all use Winfield at nickel back.

Sources tell the Washington Examiner that the Redskins have interest in free agent CB Antoine Winfield. Anyone in need of a team leader and one of the game's best tacklers should be kicking the tires on Winfield. Although he'll be 36 in June, he remains an elite slot corner with plenty of tread on the tires. The Patriots and Seahawks would also make sense if Winfield wants to make a run at a Super Bowl.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports members of the Vikings' organization "aren't thrilled" with GM Rick Spielman's decision to cut Antoine Winfield. Winfield has been the best slot corner in football several seasons running. "It's a move backwards," is how one club official characterized the move. Despite his age -- 36 in June -- Winfield immediately becomes a top-ten cornerback available in free agency. We'd rank them like this: 1) Aqib Talib 2) Sean Smith 3) Brent Grimes 4) Winfield 5) Keenan Lewis 6) Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie 7) Derek Cox 8) Chris Houston 9) Antoine Cason 10) DeAngelo Hall.

Vikings released CB Antoine Winfield. It's a financial move. Winfield played on 94 percent of the snaps last season, grading out as ProFootballFocus' best run-defending corner and also allowing zero touchdowns in the passing game. But he declined a paycut, so the Vikings made the questionable decision to save $7.5 million and move on. Although Winfield is entering his age-36 season, he'll find plenty of interest on the open market as a physical slot corner.

Coach Leslie Frazier said he no longer wants CB Antoine Winfield to be a full-time player. Winfield will be 36 in June. Ideally, Frazier wants to use Chris Cook and Josh Robinson as the every-down outside corners and make Winfield exclusively a slot corner in the nickel package. "I don't think it's the best thing for our team," Frazier said of Winfield playing full time. "We need him to be able to stay healthy, help us in the classroom, help us on the field. So, we definitely want him back, but we do need to reduce his snaps." The Vikings could ask the 14-year veteran to take a paycut as he's owed $7.5 million in 2013.

Vikings CB Antoine Winfield is in line to earn a $7.25 million base salary for 2013. Winfield's salary would have "de-escalated" to $3 million for 2013 if he didn't participate in at least 80 percent of the defensive snaps in 2012. Winfield, 36 in June, played on a tick over 94 percent of the defensive snaps. Coach Leslie Frazier stated after the season that he hopes to have Winfield back for the final year of his deal. Winfield is still one of the premier slot corners in the NFL.

Coach Leslie Frazier said he wants CB Antoine Winfield and Kevin Williams back in 2013. Winfield will be 36 in June, but is owed a reasonable $3 million thanks to salary de-escalators and is coming off a standout season in the slot. Williams could be asked to renegotiate his $7 million base salary for 2013 whether Frazier likes it or not. "To have star players with the demeanor and the leadership qualities that they both possess helped our football team in 2012...That's something that we're going to talk about when we have our personnel meetings with [GM] Rick [Spielman]," Fraizer said.

Vikings CB Antoine Winfield is active for Saturday night's Wild Card matchup with the Packers. Minnesota's Week 18 inactives are QB Christian Ponder, WR Stephen Burton, CB Brandon Burton, LB Tyrone McKenzie, OL Troy Kropog, DE DeAundre Reed, and DE George Johnson. Winfield will attempt to play through a broken hand, although he didn't last long trying to do the same last week. After Winfield's exit, Aaron Rodgers lit up fill-in slot cornerback Marcus Sherels.

ESPN's Josina Anderson reports that Vikings CB Antoine Winfield (hand) is expected to play Saturday night at Lambeau Field. Winfield had officially been listed as questionable with a broken hand. He's going to gut it out to be in the starting lineup, but Anderson also reported that the Vikings are prepared to turn to Marcus Sherels and Mistral Raymond "if need be." Sherels got shredded when Winfield couldn't finish last week's game. The Vikings' slot corner is key because he'll be defending Randall Cobb.
