Branch was reinstated from his team suspension on Thursday, Field Yates of ESPN.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

Branch reportedly picked up the suspension for a violation of team rules, although specifics were never released. After nearly a week of being on suspension, the Patriots opted to reinstate him Thursday, which means he should take on his normal role as a key contributor on the defensive line. Branch is coming off a 2015 campaign where he posted 35 tackles, one sack and two forced fumbles.

Branch (hip) returned to practice on Wednesday, ending his stint on the NFI list.

Branch will begin training camp on the non-football injury list with an undisclosed injury, Mike Reiss of ESPN NFL Nation reports.

EDGE Analysis

Branch's appearance on the NFI list comes as a bit of a surprise as there was no indication of him suffering from any injury in the offseason, but it doesn't appear as though his condition is too serious and he should be able to return relatively soon. Look for Terrance Knighton, Malcom Brown, and Joe Vellano to see some extra reps while Branch is out.

The Patriots picked up Branch's $400,000 roster bonus, Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reports.

EDGE Analysis

The Patriots' decision to pick up the bonus ensures that Branch will be back with the team next season, and he'll likely still have a key role in the defensive line rotation. He only has 218 tackles and nine sacks in 118 career games, but his massive frame has proven useful against the run.

Branch signed a two-year deal with the Patriots on Saturday worth $6.6 million, Ben Volin of The Boston Globe reports.

Branch joined the Patriots midseason last year and took the field for eight games where he registered 13 total tackles. The 30-year-old played a reserve role last season and he'll likely do the same for the 2015 campaign despite the potential departure of Vince Wilfork.

Branch will sign with the Patriots, the Boston Globe reports.

With Chandler Jones expected to miss about a month with a hip injury, the Patriots will welcome Branch aboard to provide depth along the defensive line. Released by the Bill in August following a DUI arrest, Branch has totaled 170 tackles (112 solo) and eight sacks in 94 career games, but he's recorded just one sack since 2011.

Branch was released by the Bills on Sunday.

This comes as no surprise after Branch was charged for drunken driving in the wee hours of the morning the night before a game, one where he was supposed to be using to fight for a roster spot. After Branch skipped voluntary work this offseason and then showed up to camp out of shape, this reaction by the team was pretty much a no-brainer.

Branch was benched for Saturday's preseason loss to Tampa Bay after getting arrested for drunken driving early Saturday morning, the Associated Press reports. Police say Branch failed a field sobriety test and had a blood-alcohol content of .14 percent.

Branch has had a lackluster summer and was running the risk of getting cut before this incident. With several other younger interior linemen stepping up for the Bills lately and coach Doug Marrone's patience starting to wear thin in a week featuring fights in practice and an ugly loss to the Buccaneers, there's a chance Branch may not last past the coming week.
