Coach John Harbaugh confirmed that Pitta underwent hip surgery and is out for season, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. With Pitta out of the Ravens' tight end mix, veteran Owen Daniels is in line to see added responsibilities in the Ravens' passing offense, while rookie tight end Crockett Gillmore and fullback Kyle Juszczyk (who can also play TE) are candidates to see added opportunities going forward, as well.

That's just great. Guess I'll go for Owen Daniels.

On a side note, could this benefit Torrey Smith at all?

Probably not but he's been due to break out anyway. Juice, Daniels and Gilmore will all have to step up and replace Pitta as best as they can. I think Steve Smith benefits the most from this injury. Ravens will also probably try and run it a little more.

I wouldn't count on Torrey though. He's basically been a decoy which has helped Steve Smith a lot underneath. Torrey's route running still hasn't developed and he doesn't go after the ball. He is what he is at this point. Fantasy-History wise, Kubiak's #2 WR's never really gained many points. With Pitta's injury it's possible but Marlon Brown and Campanaro will most likely have bigger roles as well as the others. I'd call Torrer a low #3 with high #3 upside., unfortunately.
