Rice officially filed an appeal Tuesday against the indefinite suspension levied to him by the NFL, Albert Breer of NFL.com reports. Since Rice was already suspended for two games by the NFL prior to his release from the Ravens, he'll appeal on the basis that he's already being punished twice for the same domestic assault charge. Given the unprecedented nature of this type of appeal, it's uncertain how things may play out here. In any case, it would still seem unlikely that Rice would end up playing this season, given the PR nightmare his signing would almost certainly create.

If Ray Rice wins the appeal, the Ravens will have some explaining to do. Wonder if it will include money to be paid Ray Rice.

If Ray Rice wins the appeal and the Ravens don't take him back, he is free to play elsewhere and several RB needy teams will be lining up to get him.

will they though?

you lose your entire female fan base if you sign him

PEOPLE! Ray rice should be playing IMMEDIATELY! First off,the NFL changed the suspension claiming they had new evidence which we now know they didnt. Not to mention the fact that this new evidence of a video shouldnt have changed anything. They saw his wife UNCONSCIOUS, and ray admitted that he hit her!!!!!! Why would this video change anything!? And i could care less about a public outcry, considering every ravens fan during preseason cheered for him when they saw him on the field! Seeing that second video cannot change ANYTHING! There should be no public outcry. Im not supporting what ray rice did, but everyone should realize that once he got the 2 game suspension, it should have never changed. And if the ravens didnt cut him as soon as they saw him DRAGGING his wife then they should have never cut him.

Hahahaeeee

rjg47 Tue 9/23/14 6:56 PM

I just didn't expect to see him on here, that's why I laughed when I saw it was his name when I went to respond to his comment.

JGunna405 Tue 9/16/14 9:44 PM

Nobody is touching him whether or not he gets reinstated this year. He needs distance from this if he thinks he's ever going to suit up again.

[Deleted User] Tue 9/16/14 9:50 PM

That's not true, Oakland will sign him in a heartbeat. haha

[Deleted User] Tue 9/16/14 9:50 PM

Maybe but he should file the appeal because he is being punished twice and that shouldn't be allowed.

DannyBoyRoto Tue 9/16/14 9:56 PM

Yeah the nfl messed up here big time. Rules are going to change

[Deleted User] Tue 9/16/14 9:59 PM

Well they already changed the rules to a 6 game suspension for the 1st offense but they can't change previous suspensions. Then the commissioner doesn't raise it to 6 games or anything for Rice (which he can't do) so he just suspends him indefinitely to try and make up for their perceived failure when in reality they were bound by the CBA that was negotiated by the union and the nfl.

clrkj123 Tue 9/16/14 10:00 PM

I don't blame him one bit for appealing the decision. What he did was terrible, but he shouldn't be punished twice for it. I highly doubt any team would take the chance with him but I'm here posting what i think instead of working for a real team.

Untouchables24 Tue 9/16/14 10:42 PM

Idiots all of you...no way does this guy deserve a shot at playing again.

I feel the same about AP

Yes the NFL screwed up by not having their policies and rules in place and both situations were completely mishandled. But that's where they realized the severity of it all and needed to take further action. If I was commish there would be a ZERO tolerance for this and a lifetime ban for thugs who get off on abusing their kids or wives.

[Deleted User] Tue 9/16/14 10:56 PM

Well you aren't commish and thankfully we still live in a society where people get second chances. Also you are speaking about the morality side of the issue not the legal side which is all I am referencing. My own personal belief is he should get his legs broke by his wife's family but the legal side is pretty clear that Goodell overstepped his authority to try and make himself look good to the public.

Untouchables24 Tue 9/16/14 11:04 PM

Well said jynxed. The whole thing makes me sick to my stomach and its crazy that from a legal point things like this happen. I apologize for the name calling accept for matt up there... he remains an idiot .

Poor Matt.

mattmundle Wed 9/17/14 8:27 PM

are you retarded, i thought i made it perfectly clear that i wasn't condoning what ray rice did. The only reason ray rice isnt playing right now is because goodell had to cover his ass from all the criticism he was taking before the second video was released. Therefore, he should be playing.

mattmundle Wed 9/17/14 8:28 PM

Aaron Hernandez should be reinstated too. Some guys just make mistakes

Untouchables24 Thu 9/18/14 11:02 AM

Like I said... IDIOT.

mattmundle Thu 9/18/14 2:10 PM

your the idiot. obviously rice's wife was being a bitch, and had it coming.

BrianS69 Thu 9/18/14 2:19 PM

Aaron Hernandez playing? Really?

Maybe if they do another remake of The Last Yard.

Kind of hard to make to practice and games when behind bars.

CulverCityCosmo Thu 9/18/14 9:17 PM

You're...but who's checking?
