Smith may miss Thursday's preseason game with a sore neck, ESPN reports.
Both Smith and Adam Thielen may make the active roster for the first few games of the season with Jerome Simpson likely to miss three games due to a suspension.
Smith has looked good this preseason and I hope he makes the team. At 6'5" he gives our QB's another big target, especially in the red zone. New OC Norv Turner will turn the predictable offense around and with the emergence of Cordarelle Patterson along with Jennings, Rudolph, Simpson, Wright and possibly Smith and Thielen, the days of AP seeing 8 men in the box may be over. Both Cassel and Bridgewater have looked pretty good in the new Turner offense. Both QB's connecting on 50+ yard bombs for TD's all without AP. Wait til the beast plays.
