Boldin played seven snaps on the 49ers' opening drive Thursday, but did not have a pass thrown his way in the preseason loss to Baltimore. Boldin will start the season as the team's No. 2 wideout opposite Michael Crabtree. Despite being at the seasoned age of 33, Boldin put up his best offensive season since 2008 last year, but a lot of that was out of necessity with Crabtree missing most of the regular season. With Crabtree back in the picture and the addition of Stevie Johnson, Boldin won't be asked to assume as big of a role this year.
