Cardinals GM Steve Keim estimated in a Thursday radio interview that Andre Ellington "appeared to add 8-10 pounds" in the offseason. Ellington's Combine weigh-in was 5'9/199, so he presumably now stands in at 5-foot-9 and 207-209 pounds. The hope is that Ellington's weight gain doesn't sap burst, as it appeared to do with fellow smaller backs Felix Jones, Steve Slaton, and Ray Rice in recent years. Adrian Peterson, Ryan Mathews, Trent Richardson, and Bernard Pierce are other running backs who gained weight in recent offseasons, and later regretted it. Ellington bulked up in anticipation of a large workload spike. His current ADP is the mid-third round.
