Saints traded RB Darren Sproles to the Eagles in exchange for a fifth-round pick. The NFL's No. 2 offense just got more dangerous. Chip Kelly is a master at using dynamic, versatile talents in space to his advantage, and Sproles fits that bill perfectly. He's caught 70+ passes in each of the last three seasons. Sproles will split out wide some, provide a major boost in the return game and give LeSean McCoy some third-down breaks as he comes off a 366-touch season. Sproles turns 31 in June, but is entering the final year of his contract. It's a low-risk, high-upside move for an Eagles team with sights set on the Super Bowl.

Gotta hurt mccoys value at least a bit

Not to mention they already had a couple of other guys..I think I would have kept the 5th and took a shot on a defensive player.

dude- as a birds fan, this is huge. imagine mccoy, sproles, deshawn, maclin and riley coop on the field at same time......dangerous! you can get the defensive ends in the draft. no defensive player is gonna be had with a 5th rounder

I'm not an eagles watcher but I assumed that Mccoy, Polk and Brown was a pretty stacked backfield already. And I meant draft a D player with the pick rather than trade it. Just seems like a guy that wasn't really needed but I'm sure he will be put to good use.

i think they will trade brown for a 5th and be good to go.....now all they need is Def in the draft and have a pick in every round but the 6th

i think Sproles for a 5th is a good deal for the eagles but the offence was never much of an issue.

dont be fooled into thinking you cant get anyone decent in the 5th round.

I don't think Brown is with the Eagles anymore. Sproles takes his roster spot

what is weird is that sproles skills don't complement McCoy...they duplicate them. Sproles specialty is as a pass catching RB... McCoy is a great pass catching RB. the only time he SHOULD see the field is to give a breather to Shady (on 2 snaps a game) or if Shady gets hurt (and they already have other quality backups). I could see bringing in a bruiser for short yardage, etc. but bringing in an older and less talented version of your starter?? i don't get it.

both are very good pass catchers but McCoy carried plenty more than Sproles. in other words, McCoy is the more complete back.

that's what i'm saying. "Sproles is a less talented and older version of (McCoy)."

I can't imagine Sproles getting many carries as a rb, just seems like a great way to get him killed.

sorry to see him go but at lease we got something for him from a saints fan
