Jason Witten caught three passes for 12 yards in Sunday's Week 2 loss to the Chiefs. The Chiefs left Dez Bryant in one-on-one coverage for much of the day, trusting Brandon Flowers. It resulted in far less open spaces for both Witten and Miles Austin (three catches for 31 yards). Witten's eight targets did rank second on the team behind Dez, but the 12 yards are his lowest since Week 3 of last year. Witten can still be trusted as a mediocre TE1 against the Rams in Week 3.

It was more of the Chiefs defense not letting Witten get any good looks. Andy Reid is very familiar with Witten and Romo. He will be fine going further. Quit overreacting.

Mediocre? Yeah he didn't perform this week, but behind jimmy graham, Gronk (who is out) and MAYBE Vernon Davis, Witten is top of the line as far as TE.

Yeah I agree, that is an odd word to use for one of the elite TE's in the league.

hm maybe the author was referring to just next game, maybe the rams do a good job covering tightends? either way, i think wittens still got a lot left in the tank. it's safe to assume dez is going to receive more double coverage moving forward, and that will open up opportunities in the middle of the field.

I have Witten, Jermichael Finley and Julius Thomas....really don't know who to go with moving forward

I trust Witten! J. Thomas is looking REAL promising too. While Finley will offer some good plays here and there, he is your #3 at this time.
