Profootballtalk confirms Kellen Winslow has passed his physical with the Patriots.
With Aaron Hernandez (ankle) and Visanthe Shiancoe (hamstring) sidelined and Michael Hoomanawanui struggling badly in Week 2, the Pats needed depth for two-tight end sets. With no experience in Josh McDaniels offense, Winslow can't be counted on for an impact in fantasy leagues. Hernandez owners should target Brent Celek, Dennis Pitta or Martellus Bennett instead.
Bennett and Pitta are both available in a couple of my leagues, and they are 10 and 12 teamers. I actually have Bennett in one of those leagues, debating on picking him up in the 12 team league and dropping Greg Olsen. I also have Tony Gonzalez in that league too.
Celek was one of the most dropped according to NFL.com, last week, he'll be one of the most added and Bennet is available in almost all of my 10-12 team leagues and Pitta in a few also
That's crazy - Bennett was p/up in our 12 man league last week - Celek and Pitta are not available either....I don't see how they s/b available in any 12 team league...
Bennett and Pitta just got picked up. Guys probably want to see what they have after the 2nd week as Pitta and Bennett were not drafted. I contemplated dropping Olsen for one of those guys but missed out, but I also have Tony Gonzalez so he will be my starter going forward. All the Olsen hype in the preseason seems to be just that - hype. I drafted Bennett in my 10 team league and need to start him now since Hernandez is down. It's only two weeks in, too early to tell if Bennett and Pitta will be major contributors the entire season, especially Pitta. At least Bennett doesn't have much competition at his position, but the Ravens also have Dickson as well.
A lot of players don't carry two TE's, especially if you cant flex them. Let's see if off the top of my head I can name twelve TE's who might start in fantasy over Bennet, Pitta, and Brent...
Gronk, Graham, Hernandez, Witten, Gates,Tamme, Gonzo,Davis, Finley,Fred Davis,Keller....all guys I'd take over Pitta, and Bennet atleast. Celek's a monster, but a lot of folks don't realize it if they don't watch the Birds much......
I like Winslow in this spot - Look the guy does not need to carry the load with Gronk lined up with him and he's going to see 1 on 1 coverage vs a LB or nickle back at best - As for learning the offense - REALLY? - Who the hell comes up with this stuff - Winslow is a veteran who runs great routes - my only question is what kind of shape he might be in. 75/756 in TB's run 1st offense last year isn't bad....
i had Winslow on my roster and F Davis. So i am hoping that Winslow will start and Gronk get double team. hoping for at least 4 cathes, 55 yrs and 1 td. Not asking for too much.
Yeah I'm cutting Davis after the waiver wire to make room for Leshore coming off IR - the Skins are a down field offense now and it doesn't look like he's part of the plan.
