The Bengals are still waiting for Mays' "instincts catch up with his elite physical skills," and he's in a heated competition with George Iloka, Jeromy Miles, and rookie Shawn Williams for playing time opposite Reggie Nelson. Mays could end camp as high as a first-team safety, or as low as on the waiver wire.
